Coldsores

I am not sure if I have coldsore or not.  I have a red spot not on my lips be near them about an half inch or so way.  It itches and kinda of hurts.  Looks almost like a bug bite.  But I don't know if it is or isn't.  Its not big but not small more medium little bigger then what I think a pimple would look like.  I just got tested for all STDs including Herpes and everything was negative. Would this be a cold sore or something else.  Thank you

fyi -zovirax ointment is prescription in most countries.

just because applying a topical works, doesn't mean it's a cold sore either. Many things will clear up with just the base cream that the zovirax is in.

Cold sores are caused sually by the herpes simplex1 virus.
The best way to find out is buy some zivorex from the over the counter pharmacist, and put it on and see if it goes down.
Did you get any tingling in the area before the sore appeared?
If the cream works, then its probably a cold sore. and the next time one appears if ever, use the cream as soon as you feel the strange tingling sensation before the blister comes out.
If the cream doesnt work, then it probably not a coldsore.
Its hard for me to say without seeing it, but this is the best of my knowledge.
Hope this helps
Take care

the only way to know is to be seen and get a lesion culture done on this. it's best done within 48 hours of the appearance of symptoms.
