Confused on the results

I went to my Gyno for my annual exam two weeks ago they did a Std screening & herpes as well. My doctor called me when my results & I got copy's as well. It says that my Hsv 1 & 2 igg was negative but my Herpes Simplex igm was positive? & she wants me to come back in to get retested in 4-6 weeks. I'm confused do I have it? I'm really worried as well & losing sleep. Can someone please explain these results to me to ease my mind.

I'm starting to get a stinging on the middle of my lip on the side near the inside now. I feel like it's all in my head. Is 1.7 bad? Is there a chance I have it? I also have had the chicken pox when I was little.

You are over thinking this. The test is completely unreliable and full of false positives. I dedicate a great deal of time on this very subject. Many std experts are trying to get the igm testing taken off the menu. I surely believe you do not have hsv. Do not let your mind run away with this.

Even if I came into contact with it with the guy from January? I'm not having any symptoms that I can tell from down there or on my lips beside the burning feeling that my head is faking me to believe. She wants me to go back in 4-6 weeks to get retested. The number was 1.7 but anything higher than 1.9 is positive. & the igg test was both negative so I feel as if I don't have it but I'm scared of getting my hopes up. & when I asked for her to explain it she just tells me I need to come back for more blood.

Please believe in what I'm telling you. You don't have hsv. Igm is useless and your situation is so common.  The stress of believing your positive will manifest in so many ways. If you actually had hsv symptoms it would include lesions. You are fine. Do as your Dr suggests but ONLY get the igg test..
Try and relax your mind. I know this can shake anyone up. Remember the simple truth is you do not have hsv and the test they gave was due to them (most Dr's) not being up to date on hsv testing.

Please read the thread herpes igg/igm. It's a few down from this one. That should shed some light on the igm subject. Most Dr's are clueless on hsv testing.

I haven't had sex since December but used protection. I messed around with a guy in January but I didn't give him oral or anything he gave me oral.

Ok. Igm is supposed to be like an early detection test as igm antibodies the first ones on the scene.
If you read the other thread then you know the igm test is not to be trusted at all. As you can see by having two almost identical threads on low igm positives so close to one another. Disregard the igm test altogether. If you choose to retest then get the igg only.
