Questions about transmission

Before i knew i had genital hsv 1 i had a girl friend and we never had sex but when i told her i had it she freaked out and wanted to get tested. All we did was ever kiss and ive never had and out break on my lip so dont think i have oral herpes. she ended up being positive for both hsv 1 and 2. is it possible i gave her both strains from just kissing even tho i dont have oral outbreaks?

hsv1 never turns into hsv2. they are 2 totally different infections.

odds are she was never tested before this to know her herpes status. obviously since you are hsv2 negative, she had hsv2 prior to meeting you and most likely hsv1 too.

The chances you gave her type 2 is 0 assuming you've been tested recently and don't have it.

It's also very slim that you gave her type 1. If your initial infection was genital, then your body would have created antibodies to prevent you from getting type 1 cold sores.

So ultimately, chances you gave her both types from kissing are slim to none. It wouldn't hurt to verify that you do in fact have type 1 and only type 1 with routine testing.
