Spots on Head of Penis

About 5 or 6 weeks ago i got an outbreak of spots on my thigh. These spots started as red spots and then turned white like pimples. I presumed that it might have been heat rash since the weather had been really hot and I was stuck driving in the car for a few hours with no ventilation around my groin. About 2 weeks after, the spots/rash disappeared. Another 2 weeks after that I noticed that when i pulled back the forskin, spots were starting to form on the head of my penis.

I went to the doctor the next day and he said I had a viral infection but did not say what it was. He told me to use Zovirax and that if it didn't go away in a few weeks to go back to him. It was still showing signs 2 weeks after applying the Zovirax so I decided to go back to the doctor. He told me to continue using the Zovirax for another while. i asked him was it anything to be worried about and he assured me that it was fine and should go away and that it's nothing to worry about.

Instead of using the Zovirax the 2nd time, I decided that I was going to wash the head of my penis with shower gel (I usually only wash it with water alone while in the shower). After 2-4 days of using the shower gel, all signs of the spots were gone and the head of my penis looks perfect again.

My question is, could it have been an outbreak of herpes, or was it just a case of poor hygeine on my behalf? I was worried at first that it was herpes but after seeing the doctor the 2nd time, when he said it was nothing to worry about, I thought that I might have just been fearing the worst.

pretty sure we discussed most of this in your other post?  it's most helpful if you just keep adding to that instead of making a new one each time.

at this point since no testing was done, all you can do is follow up with type specific herpes igg blood testing 3 months post encounter or should you get a return of symptoms, be seen promptly and insist on a herpes lesion culture if you they suspect herpes at that time. if you are given the vague "viral infection but not herpes" diagnosis again, ask for a general viral culture to prove it.

I also recommend seeing a different provider if this reoccurs too.
