constant hsv-1

Iv'e had hsv-1 genitally for a few months now, and after the initial diagnosis i had very rarely  heard from it. Then after a couple months after the diagnosis i started to get what i thought were reoccuring outbreaks on my thighs and groin area. I'm not sure if I'm confusing folliculitis or bug bites for hsv-1. As this happend i started to get really anxious and stressed out, which created more outbreaks. Ive been tested for other STD's and have tested negative. Am I confusing hsv-1 for folliculitis and if not, what could be causing my outbreaks?

when my doctor examined me she told me she saw no evidence that it was hsv, and since im a very active athlete, she said i was most likely getting folliculitis and/or bug bites since the places i was getting them was at the base of hair follicules. she didnt prescribe anything but told me i should start showering with phisoderm instead of regular soap. if it persists then i will see a dermatologist. thank you for the insite

Hsv1 genitally doesn't reoccur very often.  Odds are that it really is what your doctor said it is.  did they prescribe treatment?

You can also see a dermatologist for a 2nd opinion too.

thanks petal130 i had seen my doctor before about it and she said i was probably overcalling it and it was most likely folliculitis. It doesn't have the appearance of hsv but the area in which i get it leads me to think that is what it is

This is not at all typical of genital HSV1. Continue to follow-up with your medical provider, perhaps even a dermatologist at this point.

Also, while the myth is that stress/anxiety is a trigger for herpes outbreaks, there is no factual evidence of that.
