Could it be anything else?

I am having what appears to be a herpes outbreak along the side of my anus but I'm a little confused... I don't have any symptoms like fever/swollen glands/burning urine/discharge etc, just an unpleasant (the discomfort is totally manageable) rash that progressed to small blisters in the last day or so.
I've only ever had unprotected sex once with a man in a long term, (up until that point) monogamous relationship, 3 months ago. As far as we're both aware, he is clean.
I would be at the doctor's office in a flash except that I just quit my job and can't spare even the small fee to make an appointment...
Is it possible it isn't herpes? Does anything else present itself like this?

The only other this that has crossed my mind is I had a Gardasil shot when I was 17 - and this may be majorly naive- is it possible I could have contracted it from that?

no, the gardasil shots wouldn't cause this. did you follow up on all 3 shots?

best to be seen. this could be many things and odds are it isn't herpes but it will take a proper exam to know for sure.  call your local health department monday to see what your local low cost options are for being seen.
