Could this be Oral Herpes?

I'm a male. About 5 weeks ago, had unprotected oral sex on a prostitute (cunninglus) (for about 2 minutes)... I read elsewhere by doctors on this forum that unprotected oral sex on women is relatively safe sex.

Yesterday, I had some kind of odd-looking "blister" growing on my inside bottom gums. Iit was unlike any other blister i've had before. It was rounder about a mm in size and was liquidy (yellowish).

It literally grew in a matter of hours when I first noticed anything at all.

Then,I went to sleep after I noticed the growing "blister" and when woke up the next day, the "blister" subsided and it is pretty much almost all gone now (a few hours after I woke up....

Can this be herpes? Do herpes "subside" this quickly?

Do I need to get tested? I'm very worried about my life being ruined, having to go on medication and having crazy blisters and pain all over my mouth (as i've read and saw pictures of online)

things on the gums are most often canker sores, not herpes lesions (cold sores are caused by herpes, canker sores are not).

Actually, the type of blister that you are describing seems to be pretty common in people's description, and I've actually had it myself.  They normally aren't herpes, no.  I'm not sure what they are.

I actually don't think you need to test, but if you would feel better about it, you could.  Remember that if you do test, and are positive, it will only tell you that you have infection, not where and not when you acquired it.

Thanks for the reply.

I've never had a cold sore ON the lip, it was only on the gums (this time the "blister" was unlike any other blister i've had (it was ronder and more liquidy)

I've never been tested for herpes in the past, I've never done anything at-risk whatsoever xcept that one time 5 weeks ago.

Should I still go in for a herpes test?

I think herpes would be unlikely to present in this way. Most often, herpes would last longer than a day.   However, I can't say for certain that this is not herpes.  Have you ever had a cold sore on your lip?  Have you ever been tested for herpes in the past, in any way?

If you were my patient, I would recommend a baseline antibody test (IgG only) to see what your status is at this point and then repeat it in 4 months.

Having said all that, I think this sounds very unlikely to be herpes.
