Test Results Interpretation

Hoping I can get some help interpreting my results. I had some blistering and went in for testing.
Based on the early results dr. came back and send all clear.. then the IGM results came back, and she said I am showing that I have a recent contraction of HSV.. but it COULD be a false positive, that I should have all my blood work repeated in 2 months.

I have read here that that IGM results are inconclusive, but was just hoping to get a 2nd opinion. I also rad at the bottom of the IGM results the following phrase.......Cross reactions occur with varicella zoster, CMV and EBV. ....hoping I can find out what that part means.

thanks in advance.

once he has his test results, you'll be able to better decide if it's worth changing anything about your sex life or not.

do you suspect my blood work that is recommended in Dec will be more definitive...?

and how should we, as a married couple be handling intimacy?

certainly your provider needs to be thinking non-herpes causes at this point.  it could be herpes but it's also quite likely it's something else going on. every time you get a recurrence of symptoms, be seen for exam to try to get better answers.

Yes, married, regular partner since 2008...he has not been tested.. but is going to get blood work done...

he does get fever blisters when he gets really sick, so my dr. said taht is where I got it... if my results come back in dec as positive..

Just wondering what the chances are of that.. since all of the other tests other than the IGM we negative. .. culture.. dna... igg...

The IgM is in fact worthless and never should have been drawn. You can suggest to your provider that he/she read the 2010 CDC Herpes testing guidelines.

Your IgG was negative, however if you're basing it on a specific exposure, at this point you'd have to wait three months from that exposure, and repeat the IgG type specific test.

Do you have a regular partner? Have they been tested as well?
