Diagnosis confirmed

So first off- thank you to the people who answered my questions before. I apparently do have hsv and I need to know what next. I have a boyfriend and we have been sexually active. He's planning to get tested next week. I am now on valtrax. (Sp?) And it makes me nauseous. I've lost 3lbs this past week alone because I'm so sick to my stomach from it. So I have some more questions.
Does that nauseousness go away?
Do I take the pills every day? Or only when I see the lesions coming back?
am I able to get any tattoos?
Can I donate blood?
If he has it (which were sure he does since I do) what should we expect if we're both positive?
What are any other things I should know ? Anything helps. Right now I'm just having a very very hard time dealing with this and I'm struggling a lot. Any help would be great. Thank you in advance

Call your doctor or office and request the sample be typed.

My doctor just said ' so yeah the culture did come back positive so yes you have herpes'
I didn't get a type or anything else.

Thank you. Is there anything else I need to know? I'm concerned with looking online for info because internet is so unreliable. I figure this board would probably be best to get info from.

The best thing to do now is have the type confirmed. Did the doctor say that the culture came back positive for HSV? Was type confirmed? If not then ring back straight away and ask for your sample to be correctly typed for HSV1 or HSV2.

Regardless, your partner also has herpes and is the source. As such you cannot infect him further so there is no need to avoid sex for this reason. Potentially the key thing you need to do is to avoid contact with your oral region as it could become infected before antibodies build up in the body. A very, very low chance but worth thinking about for around 3 months.

Also- I am curious as to whether oral sex is okay between outbreaks or no? I don't know much of anything and am just trying to get a good knowledge base. My doctor was very quick and short with me...
