Did i contact oral herpes

Hi~  I recently went to a bachelorette party (sun till 3:00 morn) where a girl from the party that I did not know kissed me on the lips. It was nothing long just a good buy kiss. A couple of us girls also shared our lip gloss one time during the night.  I am a little worried I got HSV 1 since about 53 hours later my upper lip on the left inside was a little swollen and there appeared to be a red bump (when I woke up that Monday morning my top lip was a little puffy and I thought I had just bit my lip while I was sleeping).

Later on in the day on Monday about 8:00pm the right side of my lip (crack where lips splits to top or bottom of your lips) got what it seems to be like a paper cut.  It is so small and there are NO other little bumps around it.   As of now about 3 1/2 days later (tues) the bump on the inside of my upper lip is going away and is just a little pinker than the rest of my lips.  If I look very very closely in the mirror I can see a small again pin point paper cut.  I can also still feel with the tip of my tongue that something is there.  Absolutely no other bumps, scabbing, scaling, pain, or tingling etc have occurred in either area. The only bother has been me being worried and the slight irritation of them being there.

I’m not sure if I should go into the dr and get tested for HSV 1.  If I were to go in are these spots too small to get a culture from?  Not really sure.  If I were to go into the dr what do I ask concerning testing?

I am concerned about the time line from when the bump under my lip showed up and the fact that paper cut like cut showed up several hours later on the crack of the side of my mouth.  I have heard that HSV 1 can hardly appear and resemble a paper cut it does not always have to be big and full of blisters etc.  I have only been sexually active with my husband and we have been together for 7 years.  In the past 7 years he has never showed anything on his mouth or genital areas.  Just a little worried.  Thanks for your time.

About 70% of the adult population has oral herpes - it's incredibly common. Also, it's not considered an STD. Your Auntie could have smooched you when you were kid and given it to you.

If you want to know your herpes status, get tested.

Maybe you were already positive before the "party."
