Do I have herpes? I am so scared

Hi Dr.

Okay so I have been in a terrible freak-out/depression recently because I am so scared I might have herpes. I can't even believe it is a possibility. I haven't been able to have fun or be happy at all the past few days (I already struggle with minor depression), and I feel like I will feel like this the rest of my life if I have what I think I have.

A little backstory...

I was a virgin until a week ago (I am 20 F). I have been ready to have sex but never found the right guy. Last Saturday I got way too drunk and a guy took advantage of me. He used a condom, and the next day I didn't really care that much that I had sex, but when I started thinking about it more, I felt so violated. I barely remember anything, but I do remember he started when I was basically passed out and then I just never stopped it. I was mad enough about this, but then I found a small red bump on my labia majora about 4 or 5 days ago. It was similar to something I had gotten before, but I never worried about it in the past because I was a virgin. Now I am so scared that I have herpes. It started as one red bump, slightly tender to the touch, but no pain or itching otherwise. It hasn't really changed, and there are no clusters or anything either. Just the one. It's smaller than the size of a dime, and isn't really raised much. I know I should get tested but I am so scared of what they might tell me. Is there another possibility of what it might be? I feel like my sex life is over before it has even begun. I wish I could go back in time, I just can't handle this. Am I just freaking myself out? Thanks for your help.

Oh Well, Thank you :). and my symptoms included like coughing, some stomach pain or like not bad dieirria. But yeah. I don't have any pains on my shaft or any bad rashes. I had a penicillin shot 3 days after exposer and been feeling way better ever since that. (I had two pimple looking pimples under my penis tip, but after medicated ointment and leaving it alone for days. I only see one now) but I'm not sure if I still do have anything. After two negative test. But I'm still not sure. But Thank you!  For responding. And just Be safe & love yah!

Oh yes, we'll that's great. I have had similar symptoms through exposure about month and some weeks ago but I'm still wondering/Praying. I've had tests done and came back negative. But still I have to wait for 3 months test and such. But my symptoms were a different and wondering if you had same. But you seem calm, okay. Which is good!  But I was just wondering. I hope and pray the best for you!  Thank you and be safe! Bye.

I have been feeling fine, other than the freaking out from this whole thing. No other symptoms though. Just the bump and that's it. I've considered testing but I'm not sure what I'm gonna do yet.

I don't think this sounds much like herpes at all. You'd probably be experiencing multiple lesions with blisters within if this was a HSV infection.

Start having chats with your doctor about sexual health though. Sex carries risks like most things in life that just can't be eliminated. But we or king with a health professional gives you the best chance of staying healthy, avoiding issues and rapid diagnosis and treatment as required.
