If I kissed a person with herpes is there a chance I won't have it?

A friend of mine with herpes came on to me yesterday and started making out with me out of no where. I stopped it as soon as I could, but I'm really scared that I got it. She takes a lot of medications for it, but can any of them stop the herpes from spreading? She even had a cold sore on her upper lip. I'm really scared and I don't want to have this virus on top of a dead friendship.

If she had an active cold sore at the time of the kiss your odds were much higher than if she didn't. Was the cold sore scabbed over and healing or a fresh lesion?

It was scabbed over and close to being fully healed. It's gone now
