is it my nerves or herpes

i've been to the dr and i have also asked several  healthcare providers -
i believe i was exposed to genital herpes - my partner was not tested only visually inspected at clinic -
he had no symptoms of herpes prior to this vaginal contact and i have never experienced or shown any symptoms - i have been tested for every std/hiv/herpes regularly with negative results but 2 days after i masturbated him his penis was covered in bumps and looked very sore and he went to clinic 5 days after and told me the clinician told him it looked like herpes but no tests were was done, in addition to that he was told i probably gave it to him .
it has been 40 days since this contact - i am not showing any outward symptoms of infection but in the last 3-5 days have had terrible stinging pain in the anal area and also in my hands - after visiting the dr. and exam i was told he didn't think i had herpes but sent labs anyway -
would herpes cause this type of stinging?  and after this amount of time?
