HSV-2

I recently went to the doctor to be tested for all sexually transmitted diseases and was told that  my blood test was positive for HSV-2. I don't recall the type of test taken, but I did go to a Quest Lab to have the blood drawn. He went to get tested and he is negative for both types! I have no other sexual partners and was wondering how could this be possible? He was with this person on 2/15/12 and then with me 2/18-2/20 so how is this possible. I was tested on the 29th of Feburary and have had no sores, blisters, or anything. could the test be wrong? I have been having sex with this person for 16 years and no one else. I have been with him since I was 15 years old and have never had another partner. Are the test 100% accurate?

I can best help you if you get the exact test results to post here - e.g hsv1 igg 3.8 and hsv2 igg 2.8 or whatever they are.

If your partner had another partner recently, herpes igg blood testing isn't accurate until at least 3 months after you last had another partner.

Was it a IGG test?  I have been reading through what Dr Handsfield, Hook and RN-Author Terri Warren have said and if it is a low positive it could be a false positive (I guess they are pretty accurate but sometimes too sensitive).  The test is much more likely to give a false positive than a false negative.
