Were you tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia? And were you treated with any antibiotics? The discharge of brown/yellow stuff is definitely NOT NORMAL and even if these tests were done and were negative, you could still have an infection called NGU. Were you checked for hepatitis? Have you been vaccinated for hepatitis B? A?
You need to go back to your doctors office and request a copy of your actual test results. This was not managed in a way that one might hope for. The testing may or may not be accurate, but I can't know until you get an actual copy and post them here for me, OK? They are your results and you have every right to request a copy. There is nothing to be embarrassed or shy about here. If you get cold sores, then you should be positive for HSV 1, but lets look specifically at the HSV 2 result. You may have HSV 2 infection, and these symptoms may not be related to that. We just need more info. Can you do this for me?
Terri
I don't think I was too specific on my symptoms. I have no fever, no lesions, blisters, back pain, testicle pain, no discharge, no rashes, and no leg pain. I did have some hemorrhoids that have been going on for a while; I am currently taking Chloroquine for malaria prevention. As I do have IBS. Know the burning pain was excruciating, but it only lasted 1 day then the pain got manageable. My DR has looked at my penis and doesn’t see anything. The DR does suspect that I have had it for a while. I getting so worried, I can't sleep. I am so stressed that I am really not feeling good. I hope this helps.
Thank you for answeing my question, I am going back to my DR Friday, I have been vacinated for Hep B, and A, my Syphillis came back negative as well for Hep B, and A. I have been vacinated for both Hep. I am going back to get my Gon, and Chlamydia, and HIV on Friday. I will go the Dr to get a copy of my results and post them.
I went to the DR this morning. Gon is Neg, and all Heps, Syphillis. I am just waiting for HIV, and Chlamydia. I got the print out and all it says is HSV1 Possitive and HSV2 Possitive. There are no numbers and he couldn't answer the question about what type of test they use. I dont know if its LgM or LGG. I am in the military sevice so they sent the lab test, and I had to wait for a while for the results. I am heading back to the states soon. The test was 4 weeks after contact. I am kind of worried and so stressed out. I know it doesn't tell you anything. The Dr inspected my penis several times during the last month. He couldnt find out anything. it it commen HSV2 breakout just be on side effect? ie. tip of penis hurts. I also read hemroids is a sympton as well. Thank You!
One more thing, is it commen herpes to have tip penis to hurt for almost 2 months, Also I dont know if its stress but I am have tingling in my hands. I am just so scared.
If you have HSV 2, then I'm not at all clear that it was from this particular encounter. But we need more testing info, and when you get back to the states, it might be easier to direct you to the correct testing. What you want is type specific IgG HSV 1 and HSV 2, and you want the numbers (index values) associated with the test. He might not have gotten the numbers on the report, but I bet if he called the lab, he could get them. They might report out only negatives and positives, not understanding that the numbers are important. I would encourage you to PUSH for these numbers so I can help you best.
Terri
Thank you, I went to the Dr this morning to find out if I had a type specific IgG test, as well as the index values. I was told that if the test said possitive then its possitive. I was trying to push. I even printed out the some information about the different types of test from ASHA. The Dr just told me that it's a blood serum so it's 100%. I am just going to wait till I get back get a IgG type specific test. I am a little frustrated about this.
I can imagine that you are very frustrated. Did they give you a copy of your test results? you can post them here and I'll go over them if you did. Where are you?
Terri
No the only results I have is possitve for both HSV 1 & 2. And that's it. The paper didn't have any index values at all. The Dr also told me I can tingly feelings on my body for the rest of my life. I can't imagine that. as well if I have a cut on my finger I can spread it by touching. I thought it was only the effected area. I was also told I don't need any daily medication. It's only for outbreaks, as I was asking about Valtrex or any other daily suppressent. Is planned parenthood a good place to get HSV2 advice?
oh my. I have to say, your doctor is soooooo way off base! You cannot spread herpes by cut on your finger, that is just ridiculous. You don't have virus in your blood stream! You are infectious from the infected area only, as you believed. He is also wrong about the medication. Taking medicine on a daily basis can reduce the risk of transmission to a sex partner by almost 50%. And there is absolutely no reason why you would have tingling sensations on your whole body. This virus isn't in your whole body, it is in the nerve group where the virus lives, either orally, genitally or both. Yes, Planned Parenthood might be a good place to get advice, depending upon the knowledge of the people you talk to. Again, where are you? Perhaps I can help you get the proper testing.

I live in Oahu, Honolulu. I will be home in two weeks. I really appreciate your help! The two Dr's just didn't show any sympathy or offer compassion from the time diagnosis.
Sorry to bother you again, I don't know if it's me being paranoid and I do know that HSV can bring other infections right? I am starting to get tingling sensastion in my arms and hands back and legs, and losing feeling in my small finger every know and then.. I don't know if it's stress or postherpetic neuralgia , or shingles. I am not breaking out in rashes. and I can't sleep. I was given ambien and only slept for 4 hours. I don't know if PHN is a life long thing I am going to have to live with. and if I do have shingles, Can my wife and kids get some sort of booster shot. Can PHN lead to other serious diseases. Dr if you can give me any insight on HSV and PHN. PHN isthe same as shingle right? I am not getting any good information where I am at. I go state side in a few weeks.
Sorry once again, I don't have a great support group where I am at. I am starting to think it might be anxiety, I started putting 2 to 2 together. no sleep and not eating and lost an extra 7 pounds this week. I am trying to stay possitivea and etc. Once again thanks.
Yes, none of the symptoms that you describe sound anything like genital herpes. PHN is a condition related to shingles, not to genital herpes, usually. Sometimes people with herpes have neuralgia down the back of the leg, but PHN, post herpetic neuralgia, is a different animal altogether, and nothing you tell me suggest that. You are freaking out, my friend. Get some more sleep, even it takes more meds, and try to stay positive until you get home. Then we can talk more about testing. Bye for the next few weeks.
Terri
I realized how anxiety can make your body feel so much worse. I was fine till I was told. should I be worried about a hemmroids I am getting. I've been having them come and go. Since I have IBS I get them frequently. Can these hemroids be a lesion. Thank for everything you done.I am about to got sleep for 12 hrs.
No more discussion now, wait until you get home and tested again
Terri
One more thing, I really need your advice. I am going to get retested when I get back, but I was prescribed Acyclovir 800mg 3x a day. Thank You!
I would advise against taking antiviral therapy between now and the time you get retested as it may chance your testing picture.
Terri
I am going to stop takiing it. Also my wife got tested at a military hospital and explained what happened. I came close to losing my mind for the action I did. She told me that even if I am possitive she wants to stay with me. I will keep you posted when I get my retest. Thanks for all the advice.
I'm glad she's staying with you, that's great news. Let me know when you get retested.
Terri
Do you know any good testing facility's in Oahu, Hawaii? Thank's
I"m sure there are Quest labs in Oahu, that would be the place that I recommend.
