I think the best thing now is a Western Blot thats going to be a great answer for you at this point.
It was definitely type specific and the results were individually listed the way you wrote them above.
I'd certainly err on the side of caution with the herpes WB blood test.
are you sure the first test that was >5 was a type specific test and not a combined test? When they reported the results was it hsv1 igg >5 and hsv2 >5 or just one result listed for the both of them?
the 13 weeks of pregnancy testing was ok with the 2nd test. just wanted to make sure it wasn't 36 weeks or anything late like that.
With pregnancy it throws a loop in things. Given your results were so high (the max) the false positive is low when in that high range. Does happen and can. Monday grace should be around. Let her response to the post. If you don't get a response from her by monday just pop in and reply to your thread with "bump".
No meds before. Just Valtrex the final 2 weeks of my pregnancy then nothing since. Like I said, i've never had any kind of symptoms and have not had many partners over the years I'm 40). My husband and I have been together for over 10 years and he has had no issues either. I read in this forum that the test had some issues with false positives a few years back and they have since tried to remedy the issue so i'm hoping that was the case here.
I know grace is a little busy this week. I know (only recently heard this) that there is a point in the pregnancy in which the testing isn't as accurate. I am looking for when that happens. though. I would say try the western blot to be sure.
Did they give u any medication for herpes before?
I was about 13 weeks when I was tested the second time.
I'd follow up with a herpes WB just to be sure of your status.
at what point during your 2nd pregnancy were you tested again for herpes - how many weeks into pregnancy?
