SHE SAID IT WAS UP TO ME; I HAD NO IDEA IN BEGINNING TO TAKE IT OR NOT BUT SINCE IT SEEMED TO BE HEALING; I DIDNT. AND NOW, IT IS HEALING, FADING-NOT SURE IF IT WOULD DO ANYTHING MORE AT THIS TIME. SO, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SORE SHOULD BE FADED ALMOST ENTIRELY BEFORE SEX IS INITIATED. I SHOULDNT HAVE ANY PROBLEM THO GIVING MY HUSBAND JUST ORAL SEX AT THIS POINT?
the skin on the thigh is thick so you will see signs of the ob longer than it is actively shedding. did your provider give you acyclovir or valtrex to help speed healing of your lesions?

another question- you indicated avoid sex when you have genital symptoms-what specifically do you mean when you state genital symptoms? that sore on my thigh is fading-does it have to be entirely gone where you dont see it at all before you can have sex-vaginal or oral?
thankyou. from what i have been reading, thats what i thought. but it is very confusing. didnt even know there was a herpes 1 and 2 and all variables that go with that. just thought herpes was herpes and that it was contagious. that's it.
thanks again
if hubby has hsv1 orally and you have it genitally it's pretty much a non-issue for you both. just avoid sex anytime you have any genital symptoms. His own hsv1 oral infection gives him significant protection against contracting hsv1 genitally from you.
if your lesion culture was hsv1+, no reason for the 2 of you to get tested for hsv2.
keep asking questions as you have them :)

yes, they took culture from lesion had on my thigh
so you had a lesion culture that came back as hsv1+? do I have that right?
