Flu-like symptoms but no blisters?

Hey, everyone.

Is it possible to have a herpes outbreak without the blisters?

I know it sounds dumb. Just wasn’t sure if you could have some symptoms present without the actual blisters.

Do you have herpes or are you thinking it's a new infection?

With herpes, flu symptoms are typically fatigue, aches and pains, maybe some swollen glands in the area, maybe a fever. It's not stomach stuff or congestion or a sore throat (unless it's oral herpes and you have sores in your mouth).

If you don't get sores within a couple of days of the flu symptoms, it's not herpes.

Hi, Jessi. My last (unprotected) encounter was months ago. I’ve never had blisters/sores.

However I wasn’t sure if it could have just presented itself. Maybe in an unusual way.

I do have recurring flu-like symptoms, but I know that can be any bacterial/viral infection.

Thanks for your help.
You can test if you want, and rule it out. Ask your doctor for a type specific IgG herpes blood test.

Even if you have herpes, though, that doesn't mean what's happening to you is herpes.
