Genital Herpes or Not?

I recently noticed two tiny red bumps on the right side of my labia. It was only painful when i wiped. The bumps didnt pus or anything, now it just looks red and its not a bump anymore. I went to my GYN and got tested for everything, so now im waiting for my results. My Dr. thinks its Herpes.Im petrified!!. Something similiar happened about 4 months ago, i noticed a 2 or 3 small bumps at the bottom of my labia but they didnt pus and form anything they were just sensitive to the touch. my Dr. thought it was herpes then.  I got a culture for herpes done and it came back negative. a couple of weeks after that i had a swollen node in my pelvic area but i didnt go to the dr. the swelling went down some but for the past week or so i've been getting a mild pain in my pelvic area, along with those two little bumps. the bumps dont look like anything now.. Theres no discharge, burning, pain, no fever or anything of that nature. Is there anything else this could be besides Herpes??

well i did ask him is it shingles and he said its definitely not.. its definitely chicken pox. it doesnt look like any of the pictures that i have seen of shingles and its not painful. he said shingles would be painful. its mainly on my butt and a little on my legs

I'm biting my tongue at this moment about what to say about your providers opinion that you have zoster again even though you've tested + for hsv2 and your symptoms are in the genital area.  That's really not something you should decide without laboratory testing and saying that it's chicken pox for the 2nd time and not shingles makes even less sense.

no. no cultures. he just did a visual exam and said thats definitely what it is. its not painful or anything , just itchy

Did they do a lesion culture that came back as zoster?

the day i got my results the dr told me i have chicken pox for the second time in my life. they're mainly on my legs and my buttocks. i asked him was it shingles or an outbreak. he said it was definitely chicken pox. guess im paranoid but have u ever heard of an outbreak being confused with chicken pox?

Your results is completely average.  The numbers don't mean anything as far as severity of infection or anything like that.

Thank u so much for your time and advice. Im not doing so bad with the fact that i know i have it now. I knew something wasnt right and I'm actually glad that i know now.  Thanks again.
one more thing. Is my result high? I really dont know what the numbers mean i just know that im positive

can you ask your bf to get his blood test results and post them here for me to see?  Also if it was by chance a newly acquired infection for him the blood test taken 5 months ago might not have been positive so repeating it now wouldn't be a bad idea just to err on the side of caution.

I know these weren't the answers you wanted them to be as far as you know you have herpes but imagine the frustration if you would've just relied on the negative cultures and would've spent more time and money going back to be seen while doctor's guessed as to what was going on and treated you wrong?  At least now you have answers and can treat it more appropriately.  Once your bf gets tested again you'll know if you have to decide what precautions to take together too. Hang in there - I know it's a lot to handle sometimes but it will get better.

well im back.. the culture came back negative..so i went to my md to get the igg blood test. it came back positive for hsv2 with a result of 3.97. now where do i go from here? i hear about this herpes handbook but where can i find it? my boyfriend said that when i had my first episode 5 months ago he had something similiar but the drs said it was a hair bump and his tests came back negative. should he be retested?. he said they did a blood test and a culture

Is it true that this could possibly be a yeast infection even with no discharge?.. or a UTI? Do they cause bumps?

The pain in my pelvic area and the swollen node. Thats a symptom of Herpes also correct?. The wait for the results is killing me. Is there a faster way to know?

Be sure to write down your test results so you can post them here for additional help - ie hsv1 igg 5. 9 and hsv2 igg 4. 9 or whatever they are.  Could this all be something other than herpes? Yes indeed it could be but twice now you've had visual exams that suspect herpes so I'd be starting to think that indeed that is what is going on.  Hopefully they ordered the right test so you can start getting some better answers.

The bumps havent been there for 4 months.. 4 months ago i got the first bumps. The Dr. took blood when i went so now im just waiting for my results.

It might be herpes - might not be.  

Have you had a type specific IgG blood test yet?  Enough time has passed that your test would be accurate.  It won't tell you if these bumps are herpes (and if they've been there for 4 months, it isn't), but it can at least rule it out.

Hey I have the same thing I went to the GYN today also they think it Herpes to ... I am soooo SCARED But I only have one bump and also it only hurt when I wipe or when it rubs but ther then that it just looke like a pimple ... I dont know what to think I though it was nothing ... I didnt have any onter symptoms of herpes but I am with ya on this I dont know what else it could be??
