Genital Herpes question

About 3 1/2 weeks ago I noticed that i had pain urinating when I went to the restroom. 3 days later I went to the doctor and was tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. While i was there he gave me a shot on my butt ( can't remember the name of it) and he gave me Doxyciline Hyclate. I'm allergic to penicillin. Once he put me on the meds I noticed that I started to develop blisters. Once i saw this i stopped taking the meds. More blisters came and my butt was sore from the shot. The next week I went back to the doctor to get tested for Herpes. He gave me the IGG test for type 1 and 2. The test came back negative, so then i went to another doctor to figure out what this may be so he assumed that it was herpes, even after i told him that i was already tested (I figured maybe he didnt believe me.) Then he tested me for herpes again. He gave me the IMG and the IGG test. The IGG test came back negative again but the IMG test came back positive. Because of this he figured that this was enough to diagnose me with having herpes. I've read from the handbook (http://westoverheights.com/herpes_handbook/final_HH_for_2010_revision_1.pdf) the IMG can also pickup other herpe type viruses like chicken pox and mono. I've had chicken pox twice and shingles once.

So here's my question: Did i wait long enough to get tested since I already was already showing symptoms? If I did wait long enough is it safe to say that i dont have herpes?

I'm scared but trying to keep it together.

Thanks!

if your herpes testing was done a week post encounter, it will need repeated after the 3 month post encounter mark to be accurate.

The following Tuesday i felt a burning sensation whenever i urinated. That Friday I went to the doctor and I got tested but not for Herpes ( at this point I had no blisters). After i got the shot for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea I noticed a blister on the right side of my genitals. Then more started to appear later. I had two partners at that time and informed both to get tested. To this day i have no idea if they were tested or not. Since then I haven't experienced any symptoms like i had.

I did the IGg test one week after the blisters started to appear.

it's unfortunate that your provider didn't initially do a swab of your blisters . you would've had faster answers  potentially :(

as you have read, herpes igm testing is very flawed.  it's ok to treat you for herpes with a round of herpes antivirals based on a visual diagnosis of herpes but at this point you also will need to follow up with additional testing.

how long prior to your symptoms had you last had sex?

do you have a regular partner?

IGG testing needs to be done 3 - 4 months post exposure, regardless of whether you're showing symptoms or not. Based on everything I've read here, IgM testing should just be ignored.

Unfortunate that he didn't swab the blisters, though, as those tests are typically the best diagnostic tool.

Symptoms can appear any time, from 2 days post exposure to 20 years. Typically, they show up within 2 days - 2 weeks.

How long post-exposure did you have the IgG testing done?

Like I said, not an expert. I just know igg shouldn't be done until 3 months after exposure. Not sure about igm. Ill let someone more knowledgable answer your questions. When I went to the doctor for my scare the doctor said symptoms can happen as quick as 2 days after exposure or could take up to 8 weeks .

Sorry it's actually called IGM. Not IMG. Are you familiar with that?

No he never did the swab. He just seemed like he didn't even want to get close to it.  So is it possible to have the symptoms of herpes within the 3 to 4 months of the initial exposure?

Not an expert but I've been researching this for months, I had a scare myself. Igg blood testing should be done 3 months after possible exposure, I don't know anything about IMG . When you had visible sores did you get them swabbed by the doctor?
