Genital herpes to herpes on the face

Hi, I got herpes four years ago and had an outbreak on my penis.  I have never had an outbreak on my face before, not even after the time I had sex and got herpes genitally.  I read that when you get herpes after a few months you get antibodies that prevent you from getting in other places of your body.  So does that mean I have only on my penis and not on my face?

autoinnoculation isn't very common. it's not likely anyone would give themselves genital herpes from touching their mouths and then their genitals or even using their saliva as a lube if they have a well established infection.

typically if a poster hasn't come back within a week or two, they aren't going to. just a fyi for responding to posts that are old.

You can still get oral herpes if you have genital herpes (even from yourself if you touch your genitals and then your mouth).  Both HSV1 and 2 can cause oral and genital herpes.  If you haven't had a breakout around your mouth though, you may not be infected up there.  However, you can't actually be certain since HSV is a tricky virus and can take years to actually cause a break out.  Hope that helps....
