Im Confused about the combined HSV IgM/IgG

I recently got tested for HSV. I had a brief encounter with my second partner ( i have only had two partners!) which was 5 times protected sex. My first partner i know doesnt have HSV since we are each others first. This second brief partner has had about 18 partners. This brief partner is getting tested today the same way i was the HSV IgG/IgM. The first encounter with this person was about 12 weeks ago and i recently had (2 total) lesions on my gentials...which i am still waiting for the HSV culture results to come back. If i was showing lesions already you think that my blood test would show more antibody activity, right?? the only thing that came back positive was the "Herpes Simplex 1 and 2 Ab IgG/IgM, Rflx Glycoprot G." Can someone please help me understand this?!?!?!?!?! My doctor stated that i should be negative but we are going to know for sure when the culture comes back and he was confused on why the combined test came back the way it did considering what my individual HSV tests are.

it can take up to 3 months until igg blood tests reflect a recently acquired infection.

wait for your lesion culture results and go from there.   you might also have better answers once your current partner gets their results back too.
