HSV-1 Genitally

At the end of last summer I started getting a lot of irritation in my genital area and muscle fatigue in my groin, testicles, penis and left leg.  I couldn't even sleep.  I did get a very small pimple like bump on my penis that was painful.  You could barely see it, but it hurt.  I went to my primary doctor, dermatologists, and had and ultra sound done.  They didn't find anything wrong.  And the dermatologists couldn't really do anything because they needed something visual and I haven't had any sores or anything. I have been tested 3 times for STDs.  The only thing that came back positive was HSV-1.  I do get cold sores but just started getting them a few years ago.  They don't think that I had HSV-1 genitally because I wasn't showing any sores.  But I have read online that some people that have HSV-1 genitally don't show any sores but get symptoms. And I read that HSV-1 genitally get less outbrakes if any than HSV-2 genitally.  It actually caused me and my girlfriend to break up because we weren't having sex because it hurt.  And it was stressing her out also.  This went on all the way until Feb of this year.  She thought I was fine and so did the doctors, but the pain and fatigue wasn't going away until I talked my primary doctor into putting me on Valacyclovir HCL 500 MG to try it to see if I could have it genitally seeing that was the only positive thing they could find.  One pill a day.  It actually helped.  But just recently I started getting all those symptoms again.  And that small pimple like bump was in the same place.  And I'm still getting the pills.  It's just aggravating because I just want to know what is going on so I can tell whoever I date if I have something but no one can figure it out.  Does it sound like HSV-1 genitally?  What are your thoughts?  What should I do?  Thanks for listening.

My primary doctor told me there was nothing more she could do but try the meds for HSV.  A girlfriend a few years ago said she blood tested positive for HSV-1 and HSV-2.  We used protection but a couple times the condom broke.  Nothing sounds like HSV-1 genitally??  Thanks

it's not likely this is hsv related.

continue to follow up on this properly with your providers.
