HSV-2 HERPES RESULTS

I recently had a IgG HSV-2 test done.  My results were positive 3.79.  Does this mean I have herpes and should I be retested.  I had what started out as a bump and then in thurn to clusters on my labia.  This is the first time this has happened and it only lasted for a week.  I'm scared and confused!  I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow. I don't know what to do.

there are no tests that can tell you how long you've been infected. If your partner tests igg negative for hsv2, you know you've had it since before you met them. If you both test +, no way to know who had it first or if you both came into it with hsv2 and never knew it.

I didn't get a culture done because by the time my appointment came the lesion was gone.  The blood test was the only labs I had done. Thanks for the advice.  I will let my partner know?  I have some more questions.  Does my 3.79 indicates that I have had herpes for a long period of time.  Is there a test to determine how long I have had herpes?

Did you get your symptoms cultured at all? did you have any other sort of work up done?

Your hsv2 igg is +. It's above what typically is the cut off range for false positives but if you need the peace of mind, by all means confirm it with a biokit hsv2 igg blood test or a herpes WB unless you can get a lesion culture done of your symptoms.

If you have a regular partner, they too need a type specific herpes igg blood test done too.
