HSV-2 IGG - do numbers have meaning besides positive or negative?

HSV2 IGG AB
Result is .4

HSV1 IGG AB
Result is 3.8

First time getting the specific blood tests for HSV 1 and 2.  I believe that the .4 result is negative for HSV2.  (Definitely correct me if I am wrong!)

And the 3.8 is a positive result for HSV1.  Does the 3.8 number have any significance?  Does it tell me anything about when you might have contracted the virus?  I am hoping I am just one of the many who contracted it in childhood.  I've never had a cold sore that I can remember.

If there is a range, what is the highest number someone could get?  Thanks for any help you can give.

hi, if the test you took says any number above 1.2 is positive then the .7 for hsv2 would surly be negative. The hsv1 fall just above the false positive range of 3.5 and should be concluded as positive.
Most doctors would say that number dont mean anything once its about 3.5. But since your so close, maybe get tested one more time for hsv1 to be sure and the preferred test would be the Western blot.
