HSV 2 LgG - Positive

Recently had blood screening for all possible STD/STI and all where negative.
Hep A i have had in the past.
HSV 1 was negative in both LgG and LgM
HSV 2 Was neegative LgM
HSV 2 LgG came back positive with no ratio or numbers ?

Do i have the virus ?

I have never had outbreaks or lesions or any blisters to my knowledge ?

The challenge with certain testing is they aren't always the same.  While I won't say grace is limited to some tests it is just hard to know each country specific test.  You should look into a herpes support group that is local that may be able to give you additional options.

Has your partner been tested for HSV as well?  It would be helpful to know her status if her and your wife were the only two you had been with during this time.

False positive means that the test says you are positive yet you really are not.

What does False - positive mean ?

Like i said i never got a result as such, just Negative for LgM and Positive for LgG.

Should i retest elsewhere ? what other tests are their ?

I sure hope it is false reading. Thanks for the reply.

I have been seperated from my wife for 9 months and we are planning on getting together again and i wanted to know i was clear of any underlying problems which i may not be aware off to be honest.

I have never had unprotected sexual intercourse, but i never wore protection orally from her to me.Same girl for 10 weeks or so now....but that is over.

Yes what further testing is available ?
Just a re take of the same HSV 2 test...
I never got a result just a Positive - the ratio score will tell me more right ?

when was the last time you had sex prior to testing?

was there a particular reason you tested or was this a general std screening?

you will need to confirm your hsv2 igg with additional testing if you didn't have any genital symptoms that were cultured.  I'm honestly not sure what your retesting options are in the UK.  You might be limited to just repeating the test you had done again to be honest.

There are possibilities for a false positive.

FYI  --- people can still have herpes and never get an outbrek. because you never had a outbreak does not mean you dont have the virus.
