HSV2 Results 0.96. Yes or no???

Long story short. New girl, no active with. She wanted an STD test done first. Got it done. Everything negative, but HSV2 cam in at 0.96. Went to my primary doctor and had another one done. 0.96. It's been almost a whole year since my last sexual encounter. After doing some research here and elsewhere, i'm under the impression that I don't have much of anything to worry about, but both the urgent care doctor and my primary doctor are treating me like I definitely have it. I've never had any symptoms, I've never even had any kind of STD before in my life. There seems to be a bit of confusion around HSV2 test results. The new girlfriend is extremely paranoid, and pretty much try's to keep her distance for fear of catching something. The more I read about my test results the less worried I actually am about it considering the amount of time that has passed since my last partner and the "you might have it, you might not" result of 0.96. Any advice?

In that case we have clearly a cross over effect and you do not have hsv2. This is very common. I see no reason for more testing unless your girlfriend is still upset. You can also have her come here and we can help put her mind at ease with the facts.
Hope this helps

.96 after a year. I seriously doubt you have hsv2. Seriously doubt it. You are correct not to be overly concerned. You can take the western blot from the University of Washington  for a conclusive result. Contact them and they will send you a test kit. Take that to your Dr and he will draw the blood and send it in. It will take a week or two and  they will send you the results. Anything less than a 3.5 is suspect and in the false positive range. .96 is so low I would bet the farm on you being negative. I had a false positive at 1.3.
Do you get cold sores? It's common for people with cold sores to have cross over and test low false positive for hsv2

I have had cold sores yes, but it's been a good 5-8 years since i've even noticed one.
I've also had a few sever eye infections that were deemed herpes by my eye doctor. I was given Valtrex to clear them up.
