HSV negative for 1&2 but positive for anitbodies.

I tested for HSV 1&2 Igg and Igm. My results for Igg was all negative and my results for Igm were negative for HSV 1&2, and negative for HSV titer screen but positive for HSV anitbodies. I tested twice for the Igm 7 months apart and got the same results.  My doctor said I dont have herpes 1 or 2 so why do I have the anitbodies?  Please help, i dont really understand it.

a positive igm result is meaningless. it has a high false positive rate which is why we no longer recommend it being drawn on adults.

I was positive for HSV IgM antibodies.. I don't understand how I'm negative for HSV 1&2 but I'm positive for antibodies.. I thought if you had the antibodies then you have the virus of 1 or 2.???

the herpes igm test is a greatly flawed test and should've never been drawn on you.

what test was positive for hsv antibodies? was it a non-specific igg test? the way you've posted your test results is confusing. please double check your results - thanks!
