Positive HSV 1 and 2

I was recently sick and went in for blood work. Among the tests i had std's also done.  i received my results back and tested positive for both hsv 1 and 2, hsv 2 was at 1.4.  i have had 2 partners in the past year and had a std test done then that came back negative one year ago. both partners were tested and came back negative, i have done a lot of reading on the site and is it possible i received a false positive?  my testing was done by Labcorp.  not sure what i should do as i want to get retested but everything says to wait a few months.

"As far as your own results are concerned, you are smack in the middle of the gray zone.  One research study suggests that the HSV-1 result also should be taken into consideration.  That study, done in men but not women, showed that if someone was also positive for HSV-1, the HSV-2 result was more likely to be false.

your hsv2 igg has a good chance of being a false positive. It will take the confirmatory testing to figure out if it's a true positive or not. we have a post on confirming low positives that I just bumped back to the front page last night so it should still be here on the first page or the 2nd page for more reading.

you don't have to wait until you are feeling better - it can be done now.

I just meet with my doctor and i knew more than they did.  i got my exact counts back, hsv 1 - 5.75 (had previously tested 5.0 but i have had cold sores for 20 years) hsv 2 -1.48.  when i had blood drawn i was feeling very run down and had a sore throat which was why i was there in the first place.  could my current condition have attributed to the higher count for hsv 2? as mentioned i have had 2 partners in the past year and both tested negative.  Since it is only 1.48 does that mean that it was contracted in the last 3-6 months?  i am working on getting the WB done but thought i should wait until i am feeling better.  Thoughts?

if your current partner is negative too, you can get the WB done now.   labcorp doesn't offer the herpes Wb though. If you have a quest labs near you, it's test #34534.
