Thank you I don't mean to ask the same question I'm just wondering what it could be then if it's not herpes. Why the strange pains and pains in leggs and groin what would you think they where ?
You're repeatedly asking the same questions in different words. Re-read previous replies. Neither your exposure nor your history suggests you caught herpes.
That's my last comment.
Yes from Canada . What if the lady is asymptomatic and dose not show any signs ? When I confronted her she told me she had been with a couple different guys since getting a divorce early this year . She also told me that when I confronted her about if she had herpes she got worried because I told her I was getting what I thought are symptoms so she called the other people she had been with and they said they have had no signs either ... I'm still really freak out about this I had a bit off pain in my groin on one side last light and it felt like it was my lymph node but was on the side that got the injury ?
By the way, my "several thousand" comment in my original reply is because there was no reason to assume your partner had HSV2. If she did, I would have said 1 in a thousand.
This provides even more reassurance, i.e. it seems unlikely your partner had herpes.
It is half true that a positive blood test doesn't tell oral from genital. HSV1 can be at either site, but HSV2 is almost exclusively genital. Are you in Canada by chance? Public health authorities in that country are very down on HSV blood tests -- inappropriately, in my opinion.
The source of the data is the research study that showed that valacyclovir prevents transmission. Among monogamous couples in which one person had HSV2 and the other didn't, and who had unprotected vaginal sex an average of twice a week (roughly 100 times over the year), transmission occcurred in 5% of couples (1 in 20) who received placebo. If you do the math, it actually works out to somewhere around 1 transmission for every 2,000 vaginal sex events.
These couples were also taking care to avoid sex during visible outbreaks, and some may have "cheated" and used condoms. Taking those facts into account, 1 in a thousand seems about right. These numbers are rough, from my memory of the research, but they're in the ballpark.
Thank you for your reply Howard . I forgot to mention that I contacted the lady when I started freaking out she told me she had never had any symptoms off herpes and she went to get tested for all the other std she was clean but they don't test for herpes ... I also thought I had a hot feeling around my genitals every now and then for a few days at around the 4 week mark but as soon as I got the feeling I would adjust my self in my pants and it would go away . I have been tested for every thing now waiting for results but they said they don't like to do blood test for herpes here , as they said most people will have the anti bodies and they will not be able to distinguish weather it is oral or genital ? What are your thoughts ? And where do you get the figures from about protected sex once off chances ? And are them odds accurate ?
These symptoms don't sound at all like herpes. And the probability of catching herpes from any single episode of condom protected vaginal sex is well under one chance in several thousand, so the odds are strongly in your favor. See a doctor for professional examination if any symptoms continue, but I'm confident they aren't herpes.
