Is it another Outbreak Symptom?

OKAY..so I have a question if u could help me....I was having symptoms of an outbreak of herpes about a week ago so I went to a medi clinic and he suspected it being herpes so he gave me Valtrex to take 4 immediatly and 4 in 12 hours and then 1 tablet twice daily for 4 days..so I did...and I felt better and finished the pills and went back yesturday he gave me a prescription again for the same thing to take when I am about to have an outbreak...well, I am still pretty itchy down there (not painful) so what should I be doing here? is it another outbreak? or will it just get better in time? I'm confused! Thanks!

so u are saying I should be taking 2 a day for 7-10 days for my 1st outbreak? well I still have the prescription with 16 pills in there so maybe I can go get it and just continue taking 2 a day for 7 more days? it won't kill me will it? Thank You!

First off you were given the wrong medication dose. For the first ob it should be 1 gm, 2x/day for 7-10 days.  Recurrences are 500mg 2x/day for 3 days. Give your provider a call back and ask them to please check the pdr because they prescribed the medication wrong for you.

If you are having itching, you should return to se eif yeast or bacterial infections are an issue in the vaginal area . Both are common with the first herpes ob.
