HVS--1 AND-2 Ig G positive, never had one herpes!

Hi,

My partner and I  decided to do some tests, maybe have a baby one day. We have been together for a long time, no other relations, and we have both safe and unsafe sex (with or without condoms).

So, we tested for HVS. We did the test in two labs.

We both got negative IgM for both types of herpes.

He got positive IgG for type 1. Actually, he has had cold soars from time to time. Mayne 5-6 in 10 years, on his lip. We did not engage in kissing or other stuff when he had.

I got Ig G type 1 positive, too. In 30 years I think I got one or two cold soars, so here may be the reason.

Now, what amazes me is that I got IgG type 2 positive too, whereas he is negative.

We've been together for ages, and I have never had cold soars anywhere around the genital areas. No blisters, nothing. Only candida  a few times, but nothing else.

3 years ago I got Zoster on the back of my left leg,  upper side.

From my understanding, he should have Ig G type 2 positive 2, isn't it?????

Could I have type 2, without any kind of genital symptoms? And if Yes, where did I take it from (not a lot of partners).

Could it be related to my Zoster?

Now, my test is done in Elisa Kit 5, and it shows 29.95 u/ml
His test is done in Elisa,  Novatec, and it says  sample OD 0.124 and  cut off OD 0.479 and then the explanation is that the test is positive if "sample OD is smaller that cut off OD minus 10% (very complicated test this one).

Now, what should we do?

On the other hand, can we try to have babies? Not sure we want, but just curious.

Thanks a lot.

Now, I g

It's best if you keep all replies here on the board and not send pm's.

Because you had a test outside of the US that I'm not familar with, I really can't advise you as to the accuracy of the test as far as the incidence of false positives. If you can find a herpes support group near you or online from your area, perhaps someone there is more familar with the particular test you had done and how to confirm your status in your area.

If you didn't have a lesion culture ofyour shingles to confirm that it was zoster, I'd be really suspicious too that perhaps it was hsv2 at the time.  Just something to think about if you were otherwise young and healthy and someone told you you had shingles 3 years ago and now you are testing + for hsv2.

Are you outside of the US?

Cold sores are oral herpes. typically they are due to hsv1. Both of you having a history of cold sores makes your + hsv1 results expected.

What testing did you have done on your zoster?
