HSV2 scare

November 25th made a brief mistake and had unprotected sex for about 20 seconds before I stopped due to realizing i was being stupid.  I stopped the encounter.  Woman has had no signs of hsv and said shes clean.  I am knowlegable on std symptoms so I spend the next week and a half staring at my genitals constantly.  I am uncircumsized to random redness does happen especially with masterbation, intercourse, agitation, etc.  I noticed on day 12 the tip of my penis was very red.  Did not hurt or itch.  had some tiny bumps that appeared due to irritation,  but went to the doctor.  Had a full line of std tests run including swab for hsv2. All came back negative.  I have since had hsv2 IGG blood tests done at 7 weeks post, 9 weeks, 12 weeks, 14 weeks, and another today at 16 weeks at lab corp. Should have the results back tomorrow or next day.  I keep getting random redness here and there and have had random feelings.  Wouldn't call it itch cause no desire to scratch, maybe a tingle, no pain though.  Not constant at all, just maybe 4 or 5 times throughout the day today for example.  I know the fact that im constantly looking at my penis and touching it ect doesn't help.  Def dealing with genital anxiety.  Are my tests conclusive??  Does any of these "symptoms" sound like herpes??  Could it all just be normal from me irritating and normal sensations that a normal person wouldn't even notice if there brain wasnt thinking about there penis all day?? HELP

Was this exposure (20-30 seconds) at much risk of hpv/genital warts.

Idk why.   Guess the doctor freaked me out when I first went (read first post).  The random redness and tingle for lack of better word freak me out.   And then I see where people say they didn't show positive til 20 weeks etc.  I'm sure my anxiety isn't helping at all.   Just waiting to feel or see something.   Wish I could just get past this.

You need to ask yourself why you think herpes is at play here.

Your symptoms have nothing really very much to do with herpes. Your testing tells you do not have it.

You're fine to get on with your life!

I'm still having trouble accepting I don't have herpes.  Even after 4 month negative and outreaks.  Question about symptoms,  when they say itching, burning, needle pick feelings, are these constant?  It is a constant itch for prodone.  Constant needle pick feeling or something that u may randomly feel for a few seconds every hour or two.

That is but one study, the figures I have suggested are across many studies and the accepted protection afforded by condoms.

The number of infections in that study is quite low.

The particular outcomes of the study were a 90% reduction.. that's right, 90% reduction in male to female infection rates. with antivirals, some studies show that figure to be bordering 100%. The study is also slightly flawed in the sense that it is not known how continuous the condom use is.

Only 5 males were infected in the study, it was not possible to draw any conclusions on this.

LOL

If you're going to refer me to the range studies 1-4% and whatnot, save your time; these aren't dispositive and I've already seen them referenced.

Anyone who looks at a herpes outbreak will quickly see why condoms are ineffective against transmission to men.  There is no such thing as safe or protected sex with respect to HSV, there is only mitigation of risk.

Oh, you want research?  Here ya go: "Condom use during more than 25% of sex acts was associated with protection against HSV-2 acquisition for women (adjusted HR, 0.085; 95% CI, 0.01-0.67) but not for men (adjusted HR, 2.02; 95% CI, 0.32-12.50). "

This isn't anger, it's simple fact.  If you're a woman, yes, condom use is "protected" sex with respect to HSV.  A man?  Nope.  It isn't effective.  Link here, it's NIH:  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11427138.  And for women, it's merely risk mitigation, not elimination.

If I have any beef, it is with an industry that promulgates a phony notion that condoms are some kind of talisman.

This is pretty unacceptable really.

Transmission rates are decreased by as much as 70% male to female and 50% female to male. This has been demonstrated in several studies.

There is currently no proof you have HSV2 and if you do then it may not have come from either of the partners you mention. If you do have it, then that is only your responsibility. There is no need to be so angry and despondent about having on the world's most common and insignificant viruses that has had no impact on you in particular whatsoever.

if your IgG scores say negative then you are negative.

"Unprotected" sex?  LOL.

I'm so tired of hearing that **** with respect to HSV2...there is no such thing as protected or unprotected.  Condoms are ineffective against the transmission of HSV2.  Go look at some HSV2 pics on the internet, do a web search, and you will quickly see why.

Sex workers (read my other thread, my partner #1 is one) in many cases are steadfast about using protection...my partner used antiviral stuff and always condoms.  Still positive HSV2.  It's inevitable given enough transmission opportunities.

every test has been the lab corp igg test.  believe they use the captiva.  I'm still very nervous for the 16 week result.  Even being i have had so many negatives.  It's almost like I had convinced myself I had hsv2 and now having trouble accepting I don't.  Every little feeling or red spot i assume its going to be a blister or herpes related.  Most redness I  get is gone within 48 hrs.  Guess i still see people saying 6 months etc and I'm just ready to get past this.

Hi and none of what you mention would infer that your having hsv genital outbreaks and with such a breif exposure with her not having any genital sores at the time, your risk would be close to zero . and yes your last test would be conclusive if you have the igG type specific.
