Classic area for jock itch. You can try self-treatment with an OTC product and see if it's effective, or see your doc if concerned.

So I am back. I am no longer paranoid, or obsessing over this stuff, or having bad anxiety. I have just been practical about it and plus I have concluded that I do not have HSV anyway. However, I am here because as of yesterday I have developed a really red and itchy rash below and left of my scrotum and it has extended to my left side of my scrotum. I realize not everything that goes on down there is HSV or even an STD in general, however I have done some research and most of the rashes that occur don't generally extend onto the scrotum. So I am considering the possibility that it could an OB of HSV. Symptoms are red, itchy, and tingly. I am on day 2 of it, it hasnt really gotten worse, but it has not improved. Does this sound like it COULD be the start of an OB? no other symptoms are present. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the advice. will always use protection, ask the questions, cross my fingers.. just really hope the risk of unprotected oral is really that low. b.c that is just not going to stop lol. and one night flings, but i guess i will just have to be more cautious and wary on whom i bring to bed. once again thank you! and i hope the only reason i have to come back on this forum is to help/give advice! hah

I totally agree with mistake - using a condom will help to protect you from most std's. You can do the perfunctory " do you have anything I should know about" question prior to a one night stand but of course no guarantee's that your partner will be truthful or even that they get tested regularly to know their status but at least you brought it up is my 2 cents.  Cover your own bases with periodic std screening and of course cross your fingers a lot - I'm convinced that's how I never got pregnant before I got married....he he he.

should you meet someone you want to have a more monogamous, long term relationship with, definitely discuss std testing in more length and make sure you both had herpes testing done.

Have fun :)

The best thing you can do is always try to use protection it will limit what things you have to worry about.

As far as HSV is concerned.  You are at low risk for HSV in unprotected oral sex (either way).  Typical Herpes symptoms will start 2-10 days and rarely up to 3 weeks after your encounter.  But at this point my advice would be take you anxeity and fix it to be safe and not have this stressful time.

So I have been OK for the last month or so and stopped being obsessed with herpes/std's in general. I no longer believe I contracted herpes and will be taking another HSV test at the 3 month mark in two weeks (but have no real anxiety over it anymore). However.. I am here to ask for general advice going forward. What is my risk exposure for unprotected oral both giving and receiving, and protected intercourse.. obviously only way of being absolutely std free is by practicing abstinence (not happening =0) ) soo... just a general word of advice moving forward.. I mean i am going to have one night random flings, so.. what do i have to look out for..with no visible sores and protection on intercourse/unprotected oral... what is the risk of my exposure? thank you again for the help. this forum has really helped me over the last 2-3 months.. i appreciate it!

Is it possible/likely to get herpes inside the anus (for a heterosexual male)? Would this cause great pain and be easily identifiable? I do have hemorrhoids but I have an abmormal amount of hemorrhoids/blisters going on there and a sensitive anus.. but no itching and no pain. I realize I seem obsessed with herpes and am looking at every little thing, but that aside, please just inform me about anal herpes as best you can. Thanks!!

Sorry. I made a new post because it is a new topic (results) but I do apologize. I have been told that, but, I was told by doctor that IgM (although not fully reliable) testing negative after 4 weeks, coupled with IgG of low level, plus no OB after 4 weeks tips the scale greatly in favor of not having contracted Herpes. What are the range of results that indicate positive/negative? Also, I know IgM is unreliable because it usually has high false positives, but, is it totally unreliable/useless? Does neg. testing at 5 weeks for Igm mean absolutely nothing? Also, is it possible/likely to get herpes inside the anus (for a heterosexual male)? Would this cause great pain and be easily identifiable?

please keep all your updates in your other post so that it's all in one place. In our read before posting post on this forum we ask folks to please do this so that it's easier for us to help you.

you already know that your test results at this point really don't tell you anything about your status.  we've told you that already.

as far as i saw on the forums; to be 100% safe the test has to be taken 3-4 months after exposure.

3 months should be fine (isn't it => other guys?).
