once you both get tested, if you need help with your blood test results, I can help you with those too.
Thank you everyone for your answers. I know about not having the Igm test and having the Igg test.
i apologize, i read the post wrong. 30 percent of all genital herpes are caused by hsv 1, correct?
i thought grace said there is a 30 percent chance of spreading herpes even if nothing is present. i dont want to get confused. please clarify
If you avoid sexual contact during anything genital going on the risk is about 96% per year you won't get herpes. If the girl was on daily suppresive therapy and the same applies of avoiding sexual contact during an outbreak the risk goes to 98% per year you won't get herpes. Using a condom doesn't protect much in herpes only about 30% as the only part protected is the mans penis but there is a lot of other parts of the body that aren't protected and that is the part that can lead to transmission.
Instead of guessing if he has herpes or not how about you both go to a doctor and have a type specific igg blood test done. Most people with HSV-2 genitally have outbreaks a few a year. HSV-1 gential is a different story.
If the person has HSV-2 genitally and they give you oral sex you have no risk. HSV-2 infect the oral area but it is rare so not much risk to even worry about there. As I said though you don't know who has what. Make a date for STD testing and request a type specific hsv igg test.
