She never had an actual test. They "concluded" this from her pap smear. Unfortunately for me I feel that diagnosis was correct because I am now experiencing tingling in my face and an appearance of a sore. I have an appointment to get a conclusive diagnosis but as far as i can tell that I have herpes. I think that she was approaching an outbreak because of her stressful condition and the fact that she just found out that she is PREGNANT. (I mean how much worse can this get?) Now she experienced bumps on her genital area and severe itching for a few days and after taking ancyclovir they have subsided.
performing pap while you had your period was inappropriate. The provider needs to update their knowledge to better serve their patients. You can test for vaginitis and std's while you have your period but you can't do a pap. it often comes back falsely abnormal during menstruation which is why it shouldn't be done.
so do you have any idea what testing your partner had done that came back as + for herpes?
Its not that at all. It's that you need proper testing to find out if you have something to worry about. If your partner had nothing then you couldn't have had an initial outbreak from herpes. It's a process to which we always recommend that testing.
We just want you to get testing to help in the process of elimination as well as helping to know what you have or don't have. It helps believe me.

Yes she would have had symptoms on her face since she never had genitial contact and the partner didn't perform oral sex on her.
If she only preformed oral sex on her partner, she wouldn't develop any symptoms in her genitals (or anus), right?...like it would appear in her throat. mouth, etc?..
I asked if it was possible or appropriate to give a pap smear during menstruation and she said that it can be done and that it needed to be done. And I guess you're sounding like it's pretty confirmed that I have contracted the virus. So basically I have to find out which type and learn my options on how to treat it. Got it. Thanks.
you should've never had a pap test done while you are menstruating. are you sure that's what they did or did they just do std testing?
at this point you'll both need to follow up with type specific herpes igg blood tests to see who has what. your partner needs to follow up on her symptoms too. should either of you get new lesions before then, be seen promptly for lesion cultures and typing. I know it's not fast and easy answers but it's the best you can do at this point.
