Herpes Worried 2

Ms Terri, many thanks for your kind reply, sorry about the straight forward questions, post exceeded maximum word count.
1) Are there trends to the frequency, meaning, as it is happening more often, is it going to increase in frequency still?
2) Can stress be a factor in increasing its recurrences, this is the only thing new to my life now?
3) What I meant with the eye irritation was, the possible eye herpes, does it start with slight irritation and redness?
4) Yes all of my 5 HIV tests within/and pass 6 month from possible exposure are negative, was wondering if these outbreaks are reason to pursue deferent methods of HIV testing?
5) Reasons I didn’t consider daily therapy –please correct me where wrong-:
A) Obviously, because I didn’t get them often then.
B) I have borderline High Blood Pressure, kidney stones, some protein in the urine and a father with kidney failure –at the age of 73-, am already taking one Crestor 10mg/day for my high cholesterol, not sure it is wise to take any more daily meds?
C) Cost; where I live 6 Valtrex 500 cost almost US$ 35.00.
6) Years ago I did the HSV 1&2 blood test; positive, so I assume it is Herpes, as it looks and feels like it and react to Valtrex accordingly, should I still do the swab test?
7) If it gets worst, and I’m forced to do the daily therapy;
     A) Would it decrease the frequency and possibly stop the outbreaks all together?
     B) If I decide to stop the daily therapy for some reason, would it return and become more severe?
     C) What do you think of the Oxygen Therapy and the "Never An Outbreak" method?
8) What are the chances and when does HSV 1&2 lead to serious complications please?
9) Can an infected person live his/her life normally without HSV complications or is it a must that we will eventually be affected by them?
Please bear with me as I’m very concerned and no one else –especially where I live- can answer my questions better.

Ms Warren,

Thanks for the reply.
Slight eye irritation has gone away, should I have it checked still?
What do you mean by current type specific test please?
Regards,
Carlos.

You should look at the values of the test that was done with original infection, be certain that it was IgG, not IgM and that the HSV 2 value was >3.5 for certainty.

Many thanks for your reply,

This type of test was performed initially when I had my first GHSV outbreak, it did confirm that I had both types 1 & 2.
At the time (2004) I had slight irritation on the corners of my mouth, treated it with  penciclovir cream, went away nicely and never came back.

Is there anything else I need to do?

I appreciate you’re your reply and opinion.

If it is gone, I don't think you need to have it checked out.

A type specific blood test can accurately separate type 1 antibody from type 2 antibody.

1)  I think you can have bursts of more frequent recurrences, and then it can settle down, you'll just have to wait and see.  If something suppresses your immune system temporarily, you could have more frequent outbreaks and then, when that changes, get fewer.
2) Long term stress (greater than 2 weeks) can be a factor, though a very small one, statistically.
3) Usually eye herpes doesn't have one symptom, then progress to more severe symptoms, no.  If you are concerned about eye herpes, you should see an eye doctor who can look at your cornea up close.
4) I would not do any more HIV tests - you are negative
5) You seem to be getting them more often now, so that is a reason to take daily therapy.  None of those medicines or conditions interact with herpes medicine.  Take acyclovir - its cheaper if you can't afford Valtrex.  You have to take it twice a day vs. once a day for daily therapy, but if you can comply, it works the same.
6) When you took the blood test, was it the current type specific test, are you sure?
7)  Daily therapy would definitely decrease the frequency and might stop them altogether.  Stopping will have no impact on the frequency of recurrences, except they will come back at whatever rate they naturally would.  No to oxygen therapy and never an outbreak.  Definitely.
8)  No complications
8)  see question above answer.
