Yes there are lots of uninformed comments on the net, you just have to look for what you believe is credible. That comes from in my view people who have worked with herpes patients for a long time like Terri Warren and results of properly conducted studies.
...but, after thinking about it, that doesn't make much sense though... for example, cold sores can be spread from kissing- isn't that from the saliva? Or is it more about the skin to skin contact from the sore to someone's mucous membranes (like the mouth)?
Also, there's a lot of conflicting information about autoinoculation; for example, I remember one post where someone said "oh, the risk is almost zero" while someone else said "reassurance doesn't help- this kind of thing happens," or something like that. Who should I listen to...?
