Unprotected sex

I am hoping to gain some advice.  Around 12 weeks ago I had drunken unprotected sex and oral with a girl I did not know.   She did not have any visible sores while this was going on.  2 years ago I was tested for HSV1 and HSV2 both of which were negative Igg test.   Since having sex with this girl I have not had any symptoms on my genitals. I examined myself daily since then.  I talked to my doctor and when I asked him about getting tested and he told me based on the lack of physical symptoms for 12 weeks and my  previous HSV1 and HSV2 negative tests I would have noticed a genital herpes infection.  Was he right and should I just stop worryin?.

Grace, I didn't want to offend you at all.   I made an appt for a igg herpeselect test on Thursday.   I realize I need the test for peace of mind. I also took a step in addressing my hypochondria by setting up an appt with a psychiatrist.

no this does not sound like herpes at all.

I sometimes wish I could give some of you my herpes for a few days, would clear the "is this herpes" questions right up for ya!

Grace, I came home today and noticed that could have been a clogged pore, pimple, or whatever on the shaft of my penis.  I popped it around 515 pm and was unsure of what came out of it.  A small hole, smaller than a pin hole was left in the wake this hole bled alittle.  It is now 630 pm and the small hole has scabbed over.   There is no pain, redness, itching, tingling or anything else associated with this tiny bump.  Does this sound like a herpes lesion to you ?   I sincerely apologize for being a pain in the butt.

I probably have enough food here right now to feed the whole forum and I certainly have enough wine for all....lol.  Call up a friend and go do something - plenty of silly summer movies out, bunch of you can get together and bbq and spend time together, even usually free summer concerts locally to get yourself out of the house for a few hours :)

I agree Grace, i am on a few days off of work and my mind has run rampant.  You also made me hungry and thirsty for wine now.   I am taking my doctors advice I did not have an outbreak after the exposure, I have had no blisters or sores in over 12 weeks,  I shoukd have moved on and relaxed after the first month with no symptoms.  I am also going to keep myself occupied and busy with activities other than examining myself lol!

sounds like you have too much time on your hands to think about these things?

I can put you to work here - been canning and pickling all the fresh summer produce and it's certainly keeping me busy!!!  Even if you just keep my wine glass filled while I work, it'll keep your mind off of all of this :)

Grace over the last day I have noticed a tingling on my scrotum. I have no bumps or blisters, or pain, just an occasional itch.  It seems like I notice it when I am sitting around doing nothing. Is this focused anxiety?  I mean it's been 12 weeks with no blisters or outbreaks i've gotta let this go.

hypochondria is an anxiety disorder and medhelp does have an anxiety related forum.

Thank you grace I will take your advice.  I believe this hypochondria about herpes and other stds is a sickness in itself.  Maybe medhelp should have a forum for hypochondria because it seems like alot of people lilke myself suffer from this cycle over and over again.

Thank you for your time! The reason I am trying to avoid testing is 2 years ago I had a similar incident.  I had what was a broken blood vessel in my penis and pestered my doctor to no end about herpes. Took an igg test at week 7 and it was neg for hsv2 and equivocal for hsv1.  I began to freak out thinking was converting to hsv1 positive took another test at week 12 which showed the same hsv2 neg and hsv1 equivocal took another test at week 16 hsv1 and 2 negative took another test at week 20 both negative again.  Alot of money and sleepless nights.  My doctor told me then to ignore an equivocol reading and told me I could have 2 tests an hour apart and one would show negative and another may show equivocal.

with the way most of the posters here check out their genital obsessively, it would be very unlikely that they missed symptoms of herpes.

Thank you for the advice. I can let go of the encounter.  I just needed some expert advise a 2 nd opinion.  I feel comfortable that with how hard I've been looking for 12 weeks that I did not have a primary outbreak and do not have it.

low risk for those too from a one time encounter.

if you know you won't let go of the encounter and small risk , by all means get tested. otherwise just go on with your life :)

Yes I paid for a chlamydia, gonnerea test 1 week after the sex at an STD express clinic.   Everything was negative.  I did not test for HIV, syphillis or hsv. Doctor said I could go to a clinic on my own to test for HIV and hsv but he would not perform the tests as he felt there was no need.

the risk from a one time encounter is low in general.   totally up to you if you are comfortable testing for herpes or not. did you cover your other std bases?
