Herpes on my Mind! Please help

Recently I moved into a dirty house. I have always lived in a pretty well kept house, even the first few away from the parents me and my brother lived very clean. But now I have moved into a house with strangers that are not very clean. About 5 months ago when I moved in I broke out in what kind of looked like small pocks on my penis. Just on the top upside of my penis if it were erect, along with a couple on the side maybe around 15 spread out. Along a tenderness, no rash, just slightly sensitive skin around my groin and hip like where my belt would be. They were not horrible sores but they were an eye sore for a minute. I figured since they went away fairly easy that it was maybe the new surroundings, maybe dust mites from my clothes being on this carpet in my room which only god knows how old and gross it really is, or some irritation I got from all the irregular cold California has had this winter. My girlfriend got a yeast infection at the same time, I had also re injured an old basketball injury from high school so I was wearing an old knee brace that my parents had just recovered from my old room and sent to me. I don't know what caused my girlfriends infection but the doctor told her she couldn't give it to me. All those suspicions the sores went away fairly fast for how unhealthy I eat and fairly painless. For treatment I rubbed on Cortizone maybe twice a day.
That episode came and went and nothing for about 5 months, but now one morning out of no where with no signs of irritation when I went to bed at 2:30 that morning I woke up out of dead sleep itching my crotch like I had just been bitten by a spider. I think I scratched it pretty hard, maybe to hard, for a good minute while still incoherent from waking myself up so fast.  with out thinking of it that much after I woke up I went most of the day with out looking at it, until the scratching I was doing got really irritated. Now it looks like a swollen bite with puss, it reminds me of a blister. The only things that make me think that it is not a spider bite is that the shape is unlike any infected spider/mosquito/bug bite I have ever had. It is kind of bubbly around the edges like a soft cloud. and has some redness around it. This was Sunday morning when I woke up scratching, now it is Wednesday and it seems to be getting a little better. I have been cleaning that whole area often along with putting Cortizone cream on it. This evening after work I decided to clean it put Hydro Peroxide on it, after that some Neosporin and then a band-aide.
I'm a young adult living on his own making just enough money for bills, I cant go to the doctor right away and am taking care of it the best I can. but does anybody have any advice, thoughts, suggestion, ideas of what it could be? does this sound like herpes or any type of std? does it sound serious enough or am I over worried...Any type of help I can get I would love and appreciate.

sorry - nothing for 5 months just looked like for 5 months when I first read it.

obviously something is going on in your genital area. certainly following up on it is the best course of action. odds are if this was something from the house you are currently residing in, you'd have symptoms far more than just on the genital area.  have you and your gf had type specific herpes igg blood tests done at all?

No, I didn't have symptoms for 5 months. It went away in a week or so. Just like this sore is getting smaller by the day. I will get checked out as soon as I can. Last time I went about a year ago to planned parent hood I never got a call back which is suppose to mean you have nothing to worry about. The thing about planned parent hood it takes a couple weeks to be seen here In California. If this keeps healing fine do you think I am safe to wait those 2 weeks or should I go as fast as possible? And when I do go what are test I should make sure get taken?

stop putting neosporin and cortizone on this. both are known to cause issues in the genital area and they shouldn't be used there unless specificallytold to do so by your provider.

your gf had a yeast infection and you had who knows what. if you also had a yeast infection, topical steroids won't clear it up which explains why you had symptoms for 5 months.

really nothing you can do at this point other than to be seen and follow up on this properly. contact your local health department to see what your local low cost options are for being examined properly.also planned parenthood charges on a sliding scale.
