Herpes or Shingles?

I recently ended a relationship with with a woman. Our first sexual encounter was 17 months ago. She tested negative for everything including HSV2 prior to our sexual relationship. A few days ago I developed a rash in the crease of my right inner thigh, stinging pains all over my body and mild pain in inside the tip of my penis. It does not hurt to urinate though. I've had a shingles outbreak in the past, and it felt just like it did before. The shingles outbreak was just under my waistline on the right side, above my pubic area.

I've read that herpes zoster can sometimes manifest in the same way as hsv1/2. Calling Dr. the in the morning. Devastated and hoping for the best.... Everything I'm reading is leading me to be think HSV :(

Your not having a urethral outbreak as the pain would be to much for you to be here typing and it would be none stop as you would have an open blister inside your penis and it would not last this long.
Std symptoms like urethral stinging dont come an go but would be not stop and there would be a white puss discharge as that the sign of an infection.
Its possible your causing it by constant touching and milking looking for things because the irritation is at the tip.

So the rash in the crease of my legs is gone, but the burning urethra comes and goes. It's been months. No stinging pains, just the urethral burning. Called Dr and waiting for the call back. Passed the full STD panel (not HSV per his recommendation) and cultured negative on urine sample for any infection. Is it possible to have a urethral outbreak for over a month with no other symptoms? Could it be a yeast infection? I'm at a loss.

False negatives aren't an issue with igg tests. Low false positives are. Ino light of her testing I am confident this isn't hsv

Yeah, the doc looked at the affected area and solidly told me no, I don't have herpes. He couldn't tell me why I also had stinging pains and urethra pain though. I looked into my urethra and said it's definitely not herpes. He just ordered a full STD panel and sent me on my way. I don't have the results yet but I do feel much more reassured. He did not agree that blood tests were necessary because they often give mixed results. He said he would order them if I requested them, but given what he saw in my examination, he didn't think they were warranted. Phew

Ok. With no symptoms in 11 years I HIGHLY doubt that was hsv. Good luck today and keep us posted

Thanks, I've heard it's possible to get a false negative on HSV. I'm hoping that's not the case. My ex and I have talked and she has not had any symptoms ever, and her test was negative. It's the pain at the end of my urethra that has me wondering... The thigh crease rash could be something else entirely...

It's hard to say. See your Dr and go from there. How where you diagnosed with shingles and did they test it?

I have an appointment with my doctor today. We'll see. I really hope my ex didn't give me HSV. So mad right now.
My doctor 11 years ago saw it and confirmed it was shingles. I had no bumps anywhere except my waistline. Acyclovir cleared it up quickly. They did not test it. I've had no symptoms since.
