When I noticed a total of about four bigger ones, still not as big as a BB, and a few much smaller, I made a doc's appointment. At this point it was almost a month when my Doctor looked at them and said they looked like sebaceousBirthmarks - pigmented Hair follicle sebaceous gland Sebaceous cyst cysts, or perhaps warts. He told me to keep the area dry and apply neosporin, which would help clear them up if they were the cysts.
I only applied the ointment a few times, and just tried to put them out of my mind. About a month later, so two months total since they appeared, I started to pay more attention to the bumps. They still were just flesh colored, or a slight pinkish. I started to touch them more often, frequently moving them around or applying pressure, mostly looking at them. My concern just had me re-examining them every morning and night. I don't know if it was because I had irritated the area, but the bumps and the general area began to itch often. This went on for several weeks until the area started feeling sore. Again, whether it's because I was messing with them all the time and scratching them that caused the increased irrritation, who knows. I also would occasionally squeeze a few of them, to see if they popped or something, but that just irritated the area. Finally, two days ago, over three months since the bumps first appeared, I got fed up and just pinched several of the bumps, producing a small amount of blood and much pain. The next morning, yesterday, the area was red and it was very painful. It just felt raw. This morning I woke and again the area was still painful and very irritated. I applied some neosporin and went to work. When I came home this evening I went to the bathroom and took a look. Several of the bumps are red and are moist. Very, very slight traces of blood appear on tissues if I press against the area. I took a picture to get close up and it appears that a few of the bumps have a whitish yellow center now.
None of this happened until I decided to try to squeeze them hard a few days ago. The bumps first appeared almost four months ago, and I can't find any literature that mentions herpes outbreaks lasting this long.
That sounds more like hpv ny friend.. genital warts in other words.. herpes doesn't last 3 months. More like 2 maybe 3 weeks tops if its your first outbreak.. ask your doc about possible hpv treatments. If it is hpv then removing them surgically is usually the only solution..
You've made it worse by poking and prodding at whatever is going on.
At this point I recommend just leaving your hands off of things and washing the area with a genital soap twice a day thru the weekend. If they don't start looking better monday, call your provider and go and be seen. Since your regular provider didn't seem sure what was going on, I also recommend following on this with a dermatologist so that you can find out for sure if it's something fairly normal like the sebaceous cysts or if it is hpv going on. If it's hpv, you can treat it to speed healing and reduce the chances of transmitting it to a partner.
