Thankyou for you reply.
I get tested 1-2 times a year but have realised the panels never tested for HSV or HPV.
Thank you again for answering my questions.
Agree with you in the lack of education!
You cannot use those symptoms as and form of diagnostic for herpes. There are plenty of conditions that will cause what you describe.
Don't over read what your body is telling you. By all means include regular STD testing and explicitly add IgG antibody testing for HSV1 and HSV2 if you have multiple partners or in between longer term relationships.
Thank you for your reply.
I'm not sure if I do have the virus as I haven't tested for it ( I've never had any of the blister outbreaks). Though one of my exes did have oral herpes.
However I did notice a tiny red sort of rash in my groin which then turned into a long red cut/ fissure a day later.
Was a little itchy. I thought it may have been something like jock itch so I applied anti fungal cream. After 2-3 days the line disappeared.
I do assume it may have been fungal in nature, but I'd read that an outbreak could represent itself as cut/ fissures which got me more curious.
I'm guessing an outbreak probably wouldn't resolve itself so quickly?
Thank you for providing me with info. In school my sex Ed was basically sex= Bad. Very lacking.
The answer is yes in a way. Sometimes I get 'false starts' the red base and tingle, numbness are there, maybe a slight little bump then it disappears within a couple of days. This is often helped with a dab of antiviral cream a few times a day.
Yes outbreaks can be fissures or slits, but I have never experienced this.
This should not be used to diagnose an infection, but I'd be assuming this was a recurrence if you know you have the virus.
