Is it normal to test positive for Herpes HSV 2 four days after exposure?

I had an encounter on Sun with a female and used protection but the condom rode up half way and the next day i felt a little itching down there. I took a Herpes labcorp igg test the following thursday which was 4 days later and tested positive for HSV 2 at 2.67, is this normal? It has now been a little over a month and I havent had any outbreaks but my scrotum been feeling itchy?? Pls help

There is no way that you would test positive 4 days after exposure. Igg blood tests look for antibodies not tbe virus and it takes time to build the antibodies. 12 weeks is when someone should test for conclusive results. It is possible to twst possitive 3 weeks or so from exposure but not 4 days. Your symptoms don't fit hsv and came on to early
Hsv2 igg tests are very sensitive and low false positives are fairly common. Any numeric value less than a 3.5 is suspect for a false positive. Retest in a few weeks. If that is still a low positive then seek out the western blot after 12 weeks.
Either you've had hsv2 before this exposure or it's a false reading.

It is recommended to have the western blot done 16 weeks post possible exposure.

What's uo sorelegs. I have always heard the same but in my travels I've had more than one lab tech say 12 weeks is sufficient. Who knows?? Lol
Up. I hate the phone!!
Hi feelingundone. 12 weeks is probably fine. I assume they say 16 weeks just to be sure considering the cost of the test

Your itchiness is not a sign you have hsv. Like i said you either have had hsv for awhile or this is a false positive. Retest in a few weeks and see what happens.
