My last sexual encounter was in November of last year, but prior to that I had a boyfriend of three years that didnt test positive @ all. So needless to say, yes I am a bit confused. Dont want to bring no problems in my new realtionship. My test for herpes simplex virus was in Dec.2008.
If your testing done was an HSV IGM test there was no way that they can be relied upon. The numbers I don't know if that was an igg test or not. Typically igm is done combo. Can you confirm that the test with the numbers doesn't say HSV-1 IGG or something like that.
If your testing in fact was an IGM you need to have a type specific test done which is what the igg is for. There is a combo igg and that is not what you need.
When was your last sexual encounter from the time you took those tests?
I was tested for HSV VIRUS by blood igm, my no# were HSV1-3.4, HSV2-2.5. Thats how my results were read. When I asked the doctor what the no#s meant, I was told that I had contracted HSV, & proably didnt realize it cause the symptoms weren't as relevant to me. I never had a vaginal outbreak & was very confused especailly due to the fact that the year before I was told I had HSV- ZOSTER. i NEVER EVEN HAd a cold sore!!!
Tranmission numbers don't mean anything when you are facing something like this.
How were you diagnoised with HSV-1 and HSV-2? I bet you were tested improperly. Please call your doctors office and get the test name and results and post it for us here. Chances are you had an IgM test which is a worthless test and is not type specific. It is known to react to different things including Herpes Zoster. You need to get a type specific test for herpes. You can request a HSV Igg blood test from your doctor this is type specific and will tell you which type if either of the virus you have.
