single oral encounter - HSV questions

I have made a huge mistake that I need to have a talk with my wife about, and before I do I want to make certain I understand certain facts in regards to the degree of risk that I have exposed myself too. I've been reading the forum and doing my own research, but here is what I am still uncertain about.

1) I have tested positive for exposure to HSV 1 from a blood test in the recent past, but am symptom free. (My wife was negative) Am I correct when I assume that I cannot contract HSV 1 for a second time regardless of the region of the body?

2) The nature of my exposure was a brief unprotected oral experience (I was the receiver) with a dancer. From what I've read it is highly unlikely for me to contract HSV 2 in this scenario. True? Any and all explanations would be welcome.

I'm in uncharted waters here and though I'm given to worry myself crazy, my more rational side is telling me that my percentage chance of having contracted HSV 2 is extremely low.

I would really appreciate any thoughtful, professional replies.

most adults do test + for hsv1. If you don't recall ever having symptoms either orally or genitally, odds are it's oral. Most people who have hsv1 orally, don't get obvious cold sores to know that they are infected with the virus.   most people who contract hsv1 genitally have very obvious and painful genital lesions to know that they are infected.

Thank you. The truth is that I don't know if I have HSV1 orally or genitally as I don't have any symptoms that I'm aware of. The test results were read to me by my GP as being 'chronic' -- a term I don't see used much in my research on-line. I will try and calm down and let the brain do the talking. Something I'm hoping to do much more of in general. I appreciate your response very much. Thank you again.

oral sex certainly is not safe sex but it's overall low risk for all std's.

is it  likely you contracted hsv2 from receiving oral sex? no it is not. not many folks have hsv2 orally and those who do, the virus doesn't shed hardly at all from the oral area.

since you have hsv1 orally yourself already, it gives you significant protection against contracting hsv1 genitally later on. it's not 100% but it's up there.

No. No visible sores or anything like that. I guess what I'd really like to know is a certain level of probability (which I know may be impossible to ascertain.) But I need to know the odds. Thanks for commenting.

Did she have any visible sores? From the research ive done it is possible to be infected by hsv1 genitally even though youve had it orally the chances are probably lower then if you never had hsv1 at all but still possible, as for the hsv2, someone with herpes can infect others even when no symptoms are present, so if she at some point had hsv2 orally technically she can possibly infect others, bit since you don't.know her medical history you cant really know, and also you can get hsv1 genitally although ot prefers oral region can still infect genitals, since u didnt have unprotected sex i don't know about hsv2 only way I can see u getting that is if.she has.it.orally.. im no.expert just did a lot of research and these are just my opinions, anyone feel free to correct me.if im wrong
