Herpes?

I am a 39 y/o married male, I had an unprotected drunken fling one night on a business trip the first week of January 2011, it happened around 4am and lasted about an hour and a half I showered immediatley afterwards.  Over the next few days I struggled with the guilt of what I had done to my wife, long story short before I had sex with my wife I told her, she was very upset and told me that we had to go to the Dr for tests. Two weeks after fling I had a full STD test work up, including Herpes Select. All results came back negative. About 3-4 weeks after fling I noticed two small papercut lesions on my penis shaft, they stung, but never blistered, leaked or scabbed, and they lasted approx 2 months before they stopped stinging. My GP was not concerned and said it was irritation, I expressed my concern of herpes. Now I have small clusters of pin head sized bumps under my penis about an inch below the head, the look like a microscopic rash, very hard to see spread out over a 3/4" area (had to look with flashlight) they are not weeping or look like they have fluid, but have a stinging sensation, that is how I knew something was there, they have lasted about a month and a half. I have had some stinging sensation where my scrotum and penis meet as well, but again lasted for a month and a half to two months and went away. I told my GP about the discomfort and she said to apply some Neosporin, which I did with some relief. I am going on 18 weeks post event and will request another STD panel in a week or so, but in the interim does this sound like herpes? All pain has subsided now, but small bumps are still there. Please help! This is driving me crazy.

Congrats on your negative results.  Time to move on no more testing is needed.

Well, I wanted to give a follow up to my situation. I went back to my GP on Monday and told her that I would like to request another panel of STD tests including Herpes Select. We are now at 21 weeks since any possible exposure. She had bloodwork done and told me it would be later this week before any results.

Dr office called today and nurse told me ALL of my results were negative! I did not ask for any numbers ( too excited), but I do know they Igg test thru Quest Diagnostics.

This is my second round of testing, do you think I am in the clear now?

Should I test again at 12 months?

I have still had some mild irritation, I think overwashing and nerves has alot to do with that.

Thanks for your time Grace, your knowledge and advice has helped me try to maintain my sanity through this!!!!!

the risk of herpes from a one time encounter is incredibly low. don't stress over it too much.

Thanks for the reviews, I will post my results after I have my second round of testing, 20 weeks or more should be conclusive from what I have read about on this board.
Thanks again!

between the antibiotics and the over washing of your genitals, you probably have either dry skin/irritation or even a fungal infection. no reason to think herpes from your symptoms.

Thanks Grace

I forgot to mention that I was given several antibiotics by my GP on my initial visit, to take care of everything that antibiotics would kill, I understand that my body would not have built up any antibodies in that two week time to show HSV,or HIV.(my wife insisted on tests) After taking 3 weeks of antibiotics and washing vigirously with antibacterial soap several times a day is when I noticed the stinging cuts, dr called in a 10 day script of Diflucan for a possible yeast infection, after taking Diflucan and using Monastat cream the "cuts" still remained. The rash developed much later than the cuts.
I have not had unprotected sex with my wife since the fling ( we have been married 17 years, and I have never done anything like this, nor would I purposly try to pass anything on to her). I have just started using an antifungal (lamisil) spray on the rash two days ago(which has same ingredtents as Monistst). Does this sound like possible yeast infection , contact dermatitis, or anxiety/nerves to you? Would herpes definetly cause fluid filled blisters and scabbing? Yes I have been examining vigirously, and have just recently  started to come to grips that any possible health damage has already been done, and I must try to move on, my relationship with my wife has started to get much better, and has helped my stress level, she knows that this was way out of my character to have done something like this, and knows how much I have stressed over the possibility of an STD.

She just changed jobs and I am waiting on my new insurance card to come in, then I will set up my next STD tests, do you think after 20 weeks Hiv and Hsv results will be conclusive? How concerned of Hpv should I be? The woman I was with was a business associate of my best friend, I don't remember seeing any sores or warts of any kind , I did however notice with my fingers that her vagina felt a little abrasive (we had vaginial and oral sex, no anal)she has told me several times that I did not have anything to worry about, I have just been OCD about the whole ordeal, as I have never had any issues with my penis, other than jock itch once or twice in my life.
Thanks again for your response.

the only std testing you had that was accurate 2 weeks post encounter was gonorrhea and chlamydia. all the other testing you had was a waste of time and money :(  You need to repeat your hiv, herpes and syphilis testing to properly cover your bases and protect your wife.  also if you are concerned about hpv, consistently using condoms properly is a good idea.

the rash you describe doesn't sound like herpes. it also sounds like you are looking pretty hard to see it!
