HELP! My husband and I have been together for 16 years. 16 Years ago we decided to get tested for std because we wanted to be exclusive and stop using condoms--results came back negative and have not used condoms in 16 years and have never taken anymore std test. I was just diagnosed with genital herpes(painful blisters around anal) on Sunday and was given RX to treat it. The doctor took a swab and blood work. She called me yesterday, Wednesday to inform me the swab came back positive for genital herpes but that the blood results came back negative. She says the herpes hasn't reached my blood system yet, but that if she were to test me in a 2-3 months it would come back positive. I've never cheated on my husband and my husband says he's never cheated either! What are the chances he's had it all along and I'm just getting it now? Sadly my gut is telling me something else...so sad.

I would like to add that I was also diagnosed with hemorrhoids and yeast infection...I wondered if any of these would have jeopardized my first swab for chlamydia...WHY??? This is so unfair... :-(
I really don't know what to believe anymore...he swears he's never cheated and has insisted i get a second opinion which is why I went and got a second opinion, I actually went for a third opinion (urine test 6 days into antibiotics) I guess I should wait for that response before I apologize again! Plus the doctor hasn't called me back to discuss the new results, she was certain it would come back positive. I was certain he would come back positive for chlamydia too since we had been very sexually active for about two weeks prior to the blisters...

not unusual to test negative for chlamydia 5 days into antibiotics at all.
is it possible that he transmitted hsv1 to you during oral sex? yes it is but with your prior + chlamydia result I think at this point it's important to wait and repeat your igg testing again in a few months. should you get a repeat of symptoms, be seen promptly for a repeat lesion culture and insist that they type it too.
have you considered marital counseling instead of a divorce? way, way cheaper :)

If his igg is positive for oral herpes (cold sores) thats what he gave to you. He already has antibodies in his blood already you don't or else you would have tested positive in a blood test also. Hsv 1 is really common & most std clinic dont test unless asked to.
OMG! This is the worst experience ever!
So my husbands results came back negative including Chlamydia the only thing that came back positive is IGG HSV1 which is what he believes he might have given me.
Since we where arguing so much I decided to get retested again for Chlamydia (5 days into taking antibiotics for it) The doctor said it stays in the system for about two weeks and that it would still show after 5 days of treatment. She did a cervix swab because she said it would be most accurate and it just came back negative too!!
I'm waiting for her to call me back, I want to ask her why this is happening!
What are the chances it left my system that Quick?!
I just came back from the supreme court from picking up a divorce packet! This is how serious this has been.
I realize I have to wait 3 months to make sure I don't have HSV2. I'm starting to believe i might only have HSV1. I hope so I really don't want to brake up our family....but I also know I can't be with him if he's cheated. I cant wait for my Doctor to call me.

Okay that is good to know. The result was for Genital Herpes so wouldn't that be hsv2?
An hour after I posted this my doctor called to inform me I was also positive for Chlamydia! I've never been positive for this in the past so now I'm convinced he indeed has been unfaithful.
He of course swears he never has cheated and wants me to get tested again. However I no longer have the blisters around the anal and I've been treating Chlamydia for a few days now, so I don't believe it will show positive again.
He states he got tested on Thursday evening for all STD's and will receive results in about a week.
He has been complaining of major back pain and says it doesn't feel like his usual back pain he states it comes from deep inside and he's been feeling that for about a week . Yesterday he started to get cold like symptoms, but our daughter has cold symptoms too...
He believes that either one of us had the herpes virus and it has been dormant all this time. So I'm guessing if his blood results come back positive then the virus has been dormant in him and has now infected me?!
If he comes back positive with Chlamydia then again I'm going to assume he has indeed cheated because I've never been with anyone other than him (16 Years)

I can almost guarantee you that you weren't tested for herpes 16 years ago.
was your lesion culture hsv1 or hsv2+?
has your husband sought out type specific herpes igg blood testing yet to know his status?
was your blood testing you had done igg or igm?

you had a herpes culture that was positive. unfortunately your provider erred and didn't type it. please give them a call today and ask them to call the lab they use and add on a typing if they still have the specimen.
so what does your blood testing mean? well the person who helped you in your other post was quite wrong in their information they gave you :( in our read before posting post I advise folks to only listen to test interpretation given to me and I hope you read that. at this point, your blood testing shows nothing. you still have no idea what type you have :(
has your husband gotten his test results back yet? if he hasn't, make sure when he does you SEE THE ACTUAL RESULTS! if chlamydia has shown up on you at this point and you haven't had any partners, he has so make sure you see actual results.
