hi does hsv cause uclers or swelling of gums?
Thanks for your response regarding this issue. I m in the process of getting the numerical results. responding to your last text, are you saying its possible to be infected after 3 years and after repeatedly tested during the 3 years coming out negative?
I'm a little confused by the information you've posted, but I'll try to answer a few of your questions:
There was some serious misinformation in the comments last year. Herpes simplex virus (HSV), which is what we commonly call "herpes" is not the same virus as herpes zoster, which is commonly called chickenpox and can later cause shingles. They are not spread in the same way. Your HSV has nothing to do with your chickenpox. They are two different viruses.
Herpes whitlow is HSV on the fingers or hands, and can be contracted even from someone without symptoms. However, there is no way you would have contracted herpes whitlow by touching your stomach days after it came into contact with HSV-2, unless you had a portal (cut, wound, tear) on your stomach during the sexual event, then days later were shedding virus on your stomach AND also had a portal on your fingers or hands when you touched your stomach.
I would find it hard to believe that this could happen without you showing symptoms. It's possible, but highly unlikely that a first infection of herpes whitlow would be symptom-free. Furthermore, you can generally only pass herpes whitlow if you are having an active recurrence at the site of infection. It rarely if ever sheds on the rest of the hand. Finally, HSV-2 is rare to contract above the waist. All these factors together make it highly unlikely that this is how you contracted the virus. Possible, but unlikely.
If indeed you are truly infected with HSV-2, it is most likely from oral or genital sex. It's also possible that it's an old infection - more than 3 years - and you've never shown any symptoms. It would be good to see if you can get a numerical antibody count from the lab that did your test.
Best to you.
sorry left out suppressed
on the result slip its written positive.
another question since i had chicken pox as a kid is it possibility that it could have it all this while
Hi, simple kissing on the stomach would not cause any concern to contract herpes. This would be more of a risk for young children whose immune systems are not fully develop but for adults really not an issue. There would need to be some rubbing to force the virus into the nerve.
If your new partner was unaware of his HSV status then you may have been exposed. But find out if your are positive or negative by calling the testing facility you tested at. Ask them if there are any values associated with this testing. If there are you need to know them.
I am still new at this, and have not come across serum yet, but from what I read this is a type of testing. A serum HSV test. That means this not saying it is positive. From what I am getting out of the data is that is it saying you had HSV-2 Serum testing. And HSV 1 & 2 antibody Serum testing. Did you test at the same place you have always been testing? I would call them and ask them if you are positive or negative. Like I said, from what I am reading serum is a type of testing, not another word for positive.
Thank you for the response
I had abstained from sex for almost 3 years when I repeatedly got negative results. Found a partner later on thats when the results came positive. As i wrote earlier on it wasnt in numbers but for both it was written Serum.(for the results)
I see this is an old post. I did not read your entire inquiry but if you abstained from sex and tested over the past 3 years and kept getting repetitive negatives then you would be setting yourself up for a false positive. What where your IgG numbers? No, the virus would not lay dormant for 3 years. This is most likely a false positive. You should have stopped testing long ago. Herpes would not cause constant pelvic pain, multiple headaches, blurred vision or hot flashes. Herpes virus does not cause constant symptoms. If symptoms do arise then they will be completely gone in a week to 2 weeks. Give us your numbers. I would advice counseling if you can't get over this incident.
Hi, Hope i find you well....
I have been to the doctors for the above problem to no avail its has gotten worse to the extent whoever i touch ends up having small pimples with hot flashes.
I have another question, i have been tested for herpes for almost 3years and other sti's the results came negative though i had what the doctors said an ulcer down there. I ended up being treated for folliculies but now recently i have gone to get tested again it came out positive. The results were Hsv 2 Ig G - Serum and Hsv 1+2 ab - Serum. My question is after being tested 3 years constantly is it possible that i had the virus within my system.
And secondly, does it cause pelvic pain which wont go away, multiple of headaches , blurred vision and hot flashes
Hi,
Recently I was sexually active with someone who had an oral outbreak. He kissed me below the waist but above the pelvic hair area. Is there a likely possibility that I contracted HSV2?
Thanks,

Having only constant burning sensation for weeks does not fit the herpes prodrome profile.
thanks for the reply but dont have any sores just a burning a sensation
Zoster is only contractable with an obvious sore present. At this point i feel you need to see a doctor and have any sores swabbed or scraped and do a PCR to determine what any sores are.
hi
i have understood what your wrote but i am being puzzled with my hands. can herpes zoster or whitlow remain active until now that every part of my body i touch there is a burning sensation and sometimes a stinging pain
None of what you describe is herpes related. you cannot contract it on your stomach has to be below the waste.
thanks for the reply, but my main worry is my hands up until now if touch anywhere on my body remains a burning sensation. what could be the problem?
Hi and no. you would not contract herpes on your stomach, its contracted below the waist. As far as contracting it on your hands, its called Zoster which is not common as the skin on the hands it very thick for the virus to enter.
Also to contract herpes there needs to be some rubbing and grinding to force the virus into the nerve.
