HSV1 Igg Possitive at one lab and Negative at another Lab?

Ok so here's my huge mistake story, I got a hand job from a stripper and about 1 minute of unprotected oral sex 4 weeks ago. She used a lotion and the whole thing probably lasted about 4 minutes I think, I was drunk and I barely remember the night at all. The next day I had pain at the tip of my penis and some slight burning after urination (not durring). The irritation of my penis tip continued for 3 weeks and has subsided mostly and the slight burning is gone mostly. I still have this feeling of rawness on the sides of my penis shaft but it comes and goes.

At 3 days after I did a urine screen for gonorrhea and Chlamydia and sent it to the lab and started 1g of Azithromycin and 10 days of Doxycycline just in case. I saw my Urologist and he said he didn't think anything looked like Herpes and that I would not have had symptoms of anything next day so it was probably friction or a bacteria. At 2 weeks I did a full STD panel at (Lab 1) including HSV1 &2 Igg and came back negative for everything. I know it was too early but I needed to test for piece of mind.

So at 4 weeks I saw my Urologist again and he said none of my symptoms seemed to point to Herpes. Well I repeated the blood tests and this time sent two different samples from the same draw to Lab 1 and to Lab Corp. Lab 1 came back HSV1 Igg Negative .51 and HSV2 Igg Negative. But Lab Corp came back HSV1 Igg 2.35 Positive and HSV2 Igg Non Reactive? They also did a IGM1&2 and it came back positive at 1.6. I also had Lab 1 send their sample to Lab Corp to retest the Igg and it came back Slightly Positive? Lab 1 said that maybe their test just isn't as sensitive as Lab Corp's after the results came back positive again from their sample. So much for thinking I would be the lucky one who was low risk.

I guess I am still holding out hope that Lab Corp results are wrong and Lab 1's results were correct. They ran the sample twice and said they calibrate their machines every morning. At first they told me that Lab Corp's result was low and shouldn't be considered positive unless over 3.5 but from what I read that only applies to HSV2 Igg.

I'm hoping that other people in here may have had a similar experience with a positive that retested negative at a later date or am I pretty much wishful thinking here. I have had no sores as of yet or anything that my doctor would consider that looks like herpes.

Thanks for any responses I'm really lost right now and this is all I can think about.

Hsv1 can have false positives as well. I've had one. Either way i would wait a month or so and retest. The symptoms you describe are not typical of hsv at all.

Thanks, I feel a little better but do not like the fact that I had a positive igm and igg from Lab Corp. Do you have any idea on how the test is actually performed from the sample? Does a machine look for the antibodies or does a human? And is there possibly any other antibodies that would react in the same way as the HSV antibodies that would throw off the results?
Thanks again.

None of your symptoms point to hsv1. Hsv1 igg tests are not very accurate. The igg test can miss up to 25% of infections. In my opinion, if you do actually have hsv1 its far more probable that you got it as a child and don't get cold sores. Nothing you describe sounds like a newly acquired hsv primary outbreak. No lesions is a dead give away. Also the fact you had pain the next day which is to soon to be hsv.
Disreguard the igm. Wait a month and retest.

Thank you for replying, I have been going crazy over this. From what I have seen posted the HSV1 igg tests are less sensitive and more likely to give a accurate positive then a false positive?

I don't know why I have been having this on and off feelings of rawness on the shaft of my penis just below the head. And I have also had this feeling that there is something in my urethra about 3/4 of an inch in. The area around my pee hole was purple for 3 weeks and sensitive to rubbing on my underwear or what ever touched it? I have also had tingling in my toes for several weeks now, is this nerve pain from the virus taking hold?

My doctor said I have Prostatitis and gave me Levofloxacin 3 days ago. I'm assuming it hasn't helped that I am not masturbating much since it seems to make my penis more raw.

I have been reading everything in the Herpes forum for 5 weeks now and I see lots of info about HSV2 being likely to have false positives but not much on HSV1 tests. I have never had a cold sore in my life and I have always been very happy about that but now I feel that it has finally caught me and I think I would rather have oral than genital.

My doctor thinks that since my Igm came back positive I have a recent infection and that is why my Igg test was still a lower positive? I have seen so many posts about HSV1 transmission from oral sex being very low risk but it looks like I'm the one person who is driving up the percentage. I'm 1 for 1. This mistake is the only new person I have been with in 15 years.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies, I'm very distraught right now as most people are who come to this forum for help.
Oh and Lab 1 that came back with the negative igg is a smaller lab that I don't have much confidence in yet. I'm not sure which test they ran or what equipment they used for the testing. They said they do that test on a daily basis but I tend to think that lab corp would have more accurate testing than a small lab that hasn't been in business long. They even send some of their tests out to Lab Corp because they don't do them in house.

Anyone else actually have consistently low HSV1 IGG levels that even come back lower as time passes?
Lab 1 3 tests Negative @ 4,6 & 8 weeks
Lab Corp 2.35 and 1.9 @ 4 & 6 weeks
Quest 1.5 @ 8 weeks

Is the lab right that antibodies can get lower if no outbreaks?

Hsv tests can pick up other odd protiens of similar weight. That being said it could also be a l9ng standing infection the test has a difficult time picking up. Hsv1 testing isn't the best. You can get a western blot test to confirm.

Just had another Igg test done with Lab 1 which came back negative at 0.5 and also a test at Quest that came back positive at 1.5? So the result is still very low from what I have read. I asked the lab about why it is still low and they said that it's because I haven't had a recent OB? But even when dormant shouldn't the number be getting higher than 1.5?
Lab 1 says that they are going to look into their machine to find out if something is wrong with it.
Thanks.

I just want to add that I did get what I thought was food poisoning or just sickness from the antibiotics I was taking 1 week post. I had a slight fever for half a day and really bad diarrhea.
